Summary I have 35 years of experience involving molded plastic design, analysis and
fabrication. Most recently I have been working as a Senior Materials Engineer at
Lexmark International Inc. from 1997 to October 2012.
Objective I am seeking a senior level engineering position dealing with the design, analysis or
fabrication of plastic components or assemblies which include plastic components
Experience Senior Materials Engineer
Jan. 1997 - Oct. 2012
Lexmark International Inc., Lexington, KY
I used materials engineering technology to make sure products met all design and specification
requirements. I evaluated and recommended materials, made sure technical specifications were compatible
with product design, managed technicians and engineers, prepared proposals, reports and program
presentations, Recommended materials based on design objectives such as strength, heat resistance,
electrical conductivity and cost, developed program strategies and provided general technical expertise and
guidance.
Specialty areas: plastics material selection, injection molding process, computer simulation of injection
molding process, injection molding tooling, molded component design, component cost analysis,
component failure analysis, raw material quality control, molded component quality control, plastics
chemical compatibility. Recent accomplishments included: 1) developed testing protocol and data analysis
program for chemical compatibility of engineering thermoplastic, included interactive user interface, 2)
developed engineering review and quality control protocol to identi fy potential quality issues in the design
phase of molded plastic components. Protocol became a requirement for all programs, 3) built internal
plastics web site to provide home for captured learning, training for new design and manufacturing
engineers and links to engineering data for all used polymeric resins.
