WORK EXPERIENCE:
Sriya Group of Companies., Georgia, USA
May 2008- Present
Sriya Green Materials Inc.
Assistant Process Engineer
Project: Production of nano-cement
Task: Develop new technology to reduce energy usage and environmental
impact of conventional cement process.
. Tested the feasibility of the process on batch systems with new
formulations of raw material and appropriate design of experiments.
. Designed and developed lab scale to 100 kg/day demo scale continuous
pilot plant.
. Optimized the system in terms of fuel requirement, residence time and
type of reactor.
. Performed mass, energy balance and economic analysis for scale up of
the process.
Sriya Innovations Inc.
Assistant Process Engineer
Project: Designing of pilot plant
Task: Part of team involved in design and development of pilot plant scale
bio-refinery working at a 3 TPD capacity to produce C5, C6 sugars, lignin
and specialty chemicals.
. Developed process flow diagrams for entire system
. Performed a through mass and energy balance of pilot plant
. Was involved in equipment sizing and costing
Project: Demo Plant Operations
Task: To run 100 kg/day bio-refinery to produce C5 sugars, lignin & CG
sugars. I was part of the team for optimization of the process at demo
scale.
. Optimized the system to ensure minimal ramp up time of feed heating to
avoid degradation of biomass for production of C5 & C6 sugars on this
scale which was later incorporated in design of pilot plant.
. Produced specialty chemicals like furfural, glycolaldehyde and was
involved in solvent recovery.
. Provided proactive day to day support to production and maintenance
teams with respect to optimum, efficient and safe plant operation
. Involved in technical monitoring and trouble-shooting of the utility
systems
. Monitored plant performance against approved targets on day to day
basis and identified existing potential and technical problems
. Identified and implemented specific projects and changes to improve
safety, operability,and capacity of plant
. Participated in incident investigations and problem solving of plant
systems
Research Engineer
Project: Chemical conversion of biomass, such as corn cobs & wood flour
using supercritical fluids.
Task: Have worked on lab scale (15 ml) reactors for fractionation of
biomass followed by cellulose cracking to obtain glucose.
. Conducted experiments at near critical or super-critical conditions
. Developed unique batch systems to perform reactions at different
conditions
. Analyzed samples using HPLC, GC-MS and UV spectroscopy
. Prepared cost estimates for procurement of equipment and chemical
reagents
. Assessed technical data and prepared graphical representation of test
data.
. Prepared technical literature on industrial process, process economics, product markets and overall commercial viability of processing
facilities
Crystal Nanoclay Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India
October 2006-July 2007
Assistant Process Engineer
Project: Mid-scale plant Operations
Task: Involved in optimization of 3 TPD plant capacity to develop wide
range of high performance additives for plastics
. Optimized the parameters needed for production of additives to be used
in-situ polymerization & melt blending technique
. Worked with process chemist to formulate the correct raw material
needed to develop high performance additives for plastics which
deliver aesthetic, physical and processing benefits that raise plastic
performance
. Evaluated mechanical, physical and performance of reinforced plastics.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Mumbai, India
Jun 2005- Dec 2005

Project: Study of Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit
Task: Part of team responsible to study gasoline cracking technologies in
F.C.C.U.
. Worked with process engineering team to gain know-how on gasoline
cracking technologies and energy recovery fundamentals
. Designed an excel based simulation program used to calculate the
overall heat transfer coefficient in shell and tube heat exchanger
. Performed material & heat balance of entire unit and also worked on as-
built documentation for P&ID's, PFD's
Additional Employment:
