Product Planning and Launch
3 Launched five new models of Backhoe Loaders. Presented official Merchandise Plan to
the Board of Directors for production approval. Developed sales training for all Dash 5
model Backhoe Loaders and trained over 600 Sales personnel at Newberry, SC facility
and 36 other locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
4 Team Leader and driving force for developing marketing strategy, creating the “look”, of
machine graphics, promotional materials, press releases, and magazine interviews for
launch of the Quantum and LX Series Excavator lines (14 machine models). Received
feedback from Distributors that our “product launches were second to none in the
industry.”
5 Led Product Planning Team for new joint venture owned by CASE Corporation (Now
CNH) and Sumitomo Construction Machinery / Link-Belt Construction Equipment
Company. Conducted market research studies and managed continuous improvement of
the Marketing Database. Focused on short-term and long-term development of
excavator product and marketing strategies.
Market Research and Communications
6 Developed, documented, and analyzed 7 major market surveys to define customer
perceptions, needs, and desires. Product improvements resulted and often mistakes
were avoided. Developed material handler mounted on a rubber tire carrier for faster
travel speeds, smoother operation, and easier maintenance.
7 Developed marketing collateral materials for promotional efforts through presentations,
print, video, web pages, advertising, and trade shows.
8 Wrote product development proposals, developed communications concepts and
coordinated technical information flow for new product roll-outs. Supplied marketing data
to the Sales Department for a major heavy equipment manufacturer. Assessed market

Process Improvement
9 Created and utilized a new marketing database for UCC-1 “Filings”, to better monitor
competitors’ business and provide improved market segmentation and market share
data. Developed crossover report for the Sales Department, creating a powerful
prospecting instrument with customer names and SIC codes.
10 Developed a geographic forecasting tool for tactical placement of imported machines to
North American port facilities. Assured efficiency and transportation cost savings by
receiving and warehousing machines with specifications most popular with customers in
adjacent regions.

development process as well as continuous improvement through running design
change.
