PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER
. Upgraded HVAC system serving the eleven-story College of
Nursing building at UIC successfully saving the client in
38% energy cost per year.
. Designed a complete energy efficient HVAC system for the
Operational Maintenance Shop and the Facility Maintenance
Shop (OMS/FMS), 28,000 and 5000 square feet respectively at
the Armed Forces Reserve Center.
. Upgraded dust collection and compressed air system at a
Unilever Food facility to accommodate additional lines and
improve the dust collection points meeting the cGMP
guidelines. The plumbing system was also upgraded.
. Performing miscellaneous engineering functions that include
Process Piping specifications complying with code 31.3,
wall thickness calculations and pressure-temperature
compliance of valves, strainers, and instrumentations for
Hamlock Semiconductor Corp.
. Midway Airport - Consolidated Multilevel Rental Car and
Parking garage and Quick Turn Around Building. The scope
included complete HVAC design, LEED sustainable design,
LEED enhancements, HVAC equipment selection, car wash and
snow melting systems, storm and sanitary system design and
layout.
. City of Chicago - Designed a complete HVAC, plumbing and
fire protection for a six-story office and storage
building. The 500kw generator, chillers and HW boilers
were installed in the basement.
. Metra - 547 W. Jackson Blvd: Designed and installed a
complete low pressure convertible steam boiler heating
system and a 500kw emergency generator set in the sub-
basement per City of Chicago building code.
. Oak Forest and Provident Hospitals - Designed a complete
mechanical HVAC and plumbing system for existing pharmacies
to comply with the USP-797 standards to convert them to
clean rooms.
. NIPSCO Power Plant - Installed a new reverse osmosis (R/O)
for the boiler make-up water system unit no. 12. The
project was completed in two phases. During the first
phase, provisions were made for the temporary mixed bed
trailer hook up, while the permanent mixed bed equipment
and piping manifold details, R/O system, CIP and permeate
tanks, permeate pumps and piping were being installed.
Detailed flow diagrams, bill of materials and connection
details were shown on the drawings.
. USACE - Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force
Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Performed site visits to determine the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection
and medical gas requirements to facilitate the renovation of various
spaces like Same Day Surgery/Laser Eye Surgery/Autopsy Rooms/Dining
Facility/Grab & Go to upgrade the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection
system.
. USACE - Building 1090 Clinic, Little Rock, Arkansas
Performed site visits to determine the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection
and medical gas requirements to facilitate the renovation of existing
clinic.
. US Army Health Facility Planning Agency - Building 3597,
Fortwainwright, Alaska
Designed a complete mechanical HVAC system along with hydronic heating
system for the renovation of the veterinary clinic. Performed load
calculations on Trace 700, generated equipment and ventilation schedules
based on military handbook 1191. Checked and approved shop drawings.
Resolved technical field related issues during construction. Visited site
for final mechanical, HVAC and controls commissioning and startup
process.
. Mid-America St Louis Airport, Air Cargo Facility, Scott
AFB, Illinois.
Responsible for estimating the cost and the hours to complete the 50,000-
square-foot ($7 million) air cargo facility project. Designed complete
HVAC system and ductwork, plumbing and fire protection system. Selected
mechanical HVAC equipment and created equipment schedules. Performed
complete job estimation cost based on Means estimating guidelines.
DESIGN ENGINEER
. Responsible for HVAC, plumbing and hydronic piping design,
layout, equipment schedules, details and specifications for
the four story building at Pathway of River Oaks Supportive
Living Facility in Calumet City.
. Towers #1, 2 & 3 - Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL
Developed waste, vent and water riser diagrams and produced design
drawings for permit and construction phases.
. Designed HVAC and plumbing systems for McDonald's
Restaurant at Navy Pier.
. Designed HVAC and plumbing systems for United Airlines Red
Carpet Area at O'Hare Airport.
. Designed the fuel oil and cooling water systems for
aluminum melting furnaces and casters in Qinhuangdao, China
for Reynolds International's Bohai Aluminum Industries
partnership. Interfaced with a Chinese design house to
produce the fabrication installation drawings.
. Responsible for the detailed engineering and design of a new Computer and
Telephone Room HVAC system at Philip Morris' Manufacturing Center. I used
Liebert DX units whereby the heat was rejected in a closed loop glycol
circulating system.
. Foil Mill Project ($38 million): Responsibilities included the complete
upgrade of the following:
o re-circulating cooling tower system,
o diesel driven fire pump system layout,
o compressed air system and mechanical equipment.
o Conducted a comprehensive study of a 3500 ton ammonia based refrigeration
system to boost the annual production rate.
o Provided engineering support for the $40 million expansion of an existing
polymers plant.
FACILITIES ENGINEER III
. Responsible for designing, specifying and approving new plant maintenance
equipment, systems at Canon Virginia facility in Newport News.
. Analyzed existing plant systems, designs, budgets and implemented
improvements with respect to environment, maintainability, energy
consumption, and efficiency.
. Reviewing bids, proposals, designs, and shop drawings submitted by
outside contractors, architects, and engineers to determine feasibility
