Senior Manager Power Scheduling - Snohomish County PUD No. 1 Everett WA

3/08 - 12/09

. Oversee the PUD's short-term power scheduling operations and supervise

scheduling for 9 staffs.

. Responsible for maintaining system load/resource supply ensuring

compliance with federal and state laws and the PUD's Energy Risk

Management policies and procedure.

. Develop the PUD's short-term power resource strategies and monitor

changing market fundamentals and portfolio risks associated with

changing regional hydro condition.

. Plan and implement power operations of the PUD's generating resources,

including BPA Block and Slice contracts, Jackson Hydroelectrict

Project, Everett Cogeneration Project, Hampton Lumber Mill, Wheat

Field Wind, Hay Canyon Wind, Packwood Hydro and other new generation

. Manage the cost-effective dispatch of PUD-owned and contracted power

. Manage and trade all daily positions for Benton, Franklin, Grays

Harbor PUD, and TEA's at Mid C.

. Analyze current and forward resource need for all TEA west coast

members. Execute monthly operating plans to meet jurisdictional load

requirements, wholesale and slice contract obligations for PUDs.

Optimize slice value by hedging with physical or financial product

pursuant to risk management's policy.

. Utilize forward price curve to execute forward hedging strategy for

PUDs. Develop pricing strategy for TEA's speculative positions that

include balance of month, prompt month, quarterly, heat rate, hub

spread and roll.

. Research and analyze members' resource requirements, weather forecast

information, load patterns and transmission availability to take

advantage of profitable trading opportunities. Support real-time

traders by developing positions and acquiring transmission into

different hubs for location spread.
