PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Flat River Building Center • Jun 2002-Present
General Manager
I was hired to save this outdated local Hardware Store/Home Center from the expected volume
loss of a scheduled entrance of a National Big Box in the market. After a complete analysis of
both the Business and the Market, I completely re-modeled the store inside and out, upgraded
the staff, computers, and delivery equipment, changing the focus to new home and re-model
contractors. I added mechandise catagories like Marvin Windows, I-Joists, Kitchen Cabinets,
and Appliances. I also added services such as Installed Sales, I-Joist floor system design and
engineering, computer project take-offs, drywall stocking with a boom truck, and job site
deliveries with a forklift truck. I evaluated the store business hours preformance and move the
store from a 7 day, to a 6 day operation. This produced over a 40% sales increase after the
opening of the Big Box. I have full financial, purchasing, marketing, merchandising, and HR
responsibilities.

Buchheit Stores Inc • Apr 1996-Jun 2002
Store Manager
Jacksonville, IL.; I was sent to this store to correct several serious issues, causing a huge
down turn in sales and profits in the stores second full year of operation. The store had over a
100% employee turn over, and the shrink was at 7%. Upon arriving I cleaned and re-
merchandised the entire store, the sales immediately turned around. Durring this process I
spoke with the employees and determined that a lot of the turn over was due to an extreme
work load caused by under staffing, and absolutly no training. Most of the shrink was cuased
by inaccurate inventory counting procedures. After developing a processs to correct the
inventory counting process, the shrink fell drastically and the process was rolled ut to the rest
of the company. 30 months later when I was transferred to open a new store, The sales were
up over 25%, the store was profitable, employee turn over was reduced to 25%, and the shrink
was at approx 1%.
Perryville, MO.; I then went to open a new store! This store was set up from the bare walls,
with no merchandising planograms to set over 65,000 skus. The store was approx 70,000 sq.ft.
plus the outside drive thru lumber yard. In addition to opening the Perryville Store, I also
monitored the new Mgr at the Jacksonville Store for a period of about 6 months. The store
opened very strong, and after opening the merchandising was used to create planograms for
the rest of the stores. The store was also used in the year following opening as a training store
for the staff of the next new store. During the next four years the shrink never exceeded 1/2%.
