Vice President Carrier Procurement
Reporting to the Managing Partner, recruited to strengthen relations with
over 2500 carriers throughout the United States for this leading $70M third-
party logistics firm. Manage up to 27 managers and staff. Accountable for
managing outsourced call center, outsourced consulting & IT group and phone
system provider.
o Saved $150K annually by bringing call center activities in-house
during busy daytime hours.
o Slashed headcount 52% while improving productivity. Evaluated
processes, procedures and staffing levels, restructured Procurement
Department into regions to improve alignment with field needs, and
revamped incentive commission program, resulting in 70% of staff
earning commissions up from 40%. Decreased turnover from 27% to 17%.
o Improved profits and service for AFN's largest customer by revamping
carrier selection and usage.
o Increased on-time delivery rates from 88% to 92%.
o Improved profits by increasing advanced booking rates from 55% in 2008

World Color Logistics, Bolingbrook, IL ( 6/06 - 5/08
Director of Freight Operations
In charge of brokerage, intermodal, dedicated fleet, contracts,
OS&D/Claims, plant relations, Six Sigma initiative legal and compliance
issues for this exclusive logistics provider to World Color Printing.
Oversaw all logistics for 108 plants in the U.S. and Canada, transporting
printed products for customers such as Wal-Mart, Kohl's, L.L. Bean,
Fortune, Time, Money, and Cosmopolitan. Directed staff of 60, including 4
Department Managers, a Plant Relationship Supervisor, and Logistics
Coordinators in 4 departments: Intermodal, Trucking / Brokerage Operations,
and Contracts. Managed $190M logistics budget for freight spend, salaries,
and expenses.
o Cut approximately $3M in guarantees and other waste; eliminated 4
contracts and re-negotiated 1; reduced dedicated fleet from 165 to 75.
o Reduced transportation costs $12M from $192M in 2006 to $180M in 2007.
o Maintained Intermodal output of 9K loads in spite of closing the
largest Intermodal plant; taught Intermodal shipping methods to 3
plants that picked up the work.

o Slashed staff turnover by 50% from 2006 to 2007 (24 to 12).

Successively promoted to positions of increased responsibility based on
consistently exceeding goals and expectations at this freight forwarder.
Senior Operations Manager 10/05 - 6/06
Requested to open a LTL Hub within an existing facility, and role changed
to more strategic one, as was asked to manage the budget for the Hub, that
included salaries, and operating expenses. Managed 3 Supervisors, 5 Hub
Specialists, and 30 Freight Handlers.
o Increased load factor by 20% and reduced negative feedback 30%.
Slashed missed pickups by 50%.
o Achieved 145 injury free days. Designed exception reporting process
that is still in use today.
o Implemented the cross docking process for the Global Service Center
and the Hub.
Operations Manager ( 10/04 - 10/05 to open an LTL hub
Directed new Global Service Center, a 250K sq. ft. facility that handled
domestic ground, air and international air shipments. Managed 5
Supervisors, 5 Operations Agents, and 100 Freight Handlers.

Recruited to manage Inbound, Pickup and Delivery functions, a position
created for this purpose. Supervised 65 P&D drivers and 8 office staff.

Supply Chain Coordinator
In charge of the Harte Hanks account interfacing with customer for this
3PL, providing value-added supply chain services at the Supply Chain
Service Center. Ensured LTL shipments were moving on time and intact to
destinations. Additionally responsible for all OS&D; tracked and resolved

o Cut costs by reducing temporary man-hours. Designed and implemented
service metrics.
YRC (formerly RoadWay Express), Greenville, SC ( 1997 - 2001
