EXPERIENCE
Louisiana FastStart, Louisiana Economic Development, Baton Rouge, La. (2008-
present). Project Manager: Manages multiple Louisiana FastStart workforce
training projects for manufacturing and logistics client companies across
the state. Responsibilities include the management and execution of
industry job analysis, and the development of training plans and overall
design of custom performance-based training. Monitors and manages the
project teams, instructional designers and instructors. Successful
projects include Shaw Modular Solutions, Coca-cola, Stupp Corporation and
Cameron Valves.
CHEVRON INC.-Contract., Lafayette, La. (2007-2008). Facilities/Project
Manager: Responsible for all plant operations and maintenance team
functions. Lead and supervised the contract facilities services
organization. Conducted Emergency Preparedness Training, Fire and Safety
Training and MSDS Training. Directed the maintenance contractors in the
upkeep of all maintenance and repair of all buildings related maintenance
and security services.
CERTAINTEED-SAINT GOBAIN, Jackson, MI. (2006-2007). Maintenance Manager:
Managed the availability and uptime of production machinery used in the
vinyl extrusion process and associated budgets. Developed and submitted
capital expenditure applications to improve production. Directed 35
maintenance employees including all aspects of labor relations. Ensured
proper adherence to all Environmental, Health and Safety requirement of
assigned personnel and tasks. Improved equipment reliability through
preventative and predictive maintenance efforts and programs. Reported
directly to the Plant Superintendent and had the latitude to exercise
judgment and discretion when assigning installation, maintenance and repair
activities. Significant process and safety improvements were made with the
use of Six Sigma strategies.
GENERAL MOTORS (1997-2006).
Indianapolis, IN. Maintenance Supervisor/Assistant Site Utilities Manager
: (2002-2006). Supervised the daily work activities of 25 to 30 skilled
union employees. The workforce included pipe-fitters, electricians,
tinsmiths air conditioning technicians, stationary engineers and laborers.
Directed the repair and maintenance of the facility heating/ventilation and
air conditioning (HVAC), piping systems and electrical systems.
Effectively conducted safety training and audits to ensure conformance of
safety practices and procedures. Maintained and enforced Plant Energy
Conservation Program. Assigned as Project Manager for small to medium size
construction projects. Supervised weekend Power Plant operations.
Lagrange, Ill. Coordinator of Locomotive Overhauls: (2000-2002) Electro
Motive Division Coordinated the material and technical support to several
locomotive overhaul programs throughout the United States and Canada.
Created pricing structures, contractual agreements and material support for
several different railroads. Developed and maintained an up to date Bill
of Materials for all of the North American/Canadian overhauls programs.
Responsible for profit and loss models used to create new overhaul
projects. Used superb leadership skills to focus the efforts of the
departmental customer service representative.
Alliance, NE. Maintenance/Repair Supervisor: Electro Motive Division (1997-
2000). Supervised the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance conducted by
the skilled trades employees of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail
Company on operating locomotives. Served as the Chairman of numerous cross-
functional process and performance improvement teams that produced lower
cost and increased safety.
MILITARY- U.S. NAVY (1983-1997).
Division Officer for Fundamental Applied Skills Training (1994-1997).
Directed a staff of 12 educators/instructors from San Diego Community
College as they provided remedial reading and language skills training to
U.S. Navy personnel.
Leading Chief Petty Officer(1990-1994). In charge of Steam Heat and HVAC
on board the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and the USS Prairie (AD 15).
Supervised a workforce of 20 to 30 naval marine engineers that were tasked
with maintaining the HVAC/steam heat equipment for a crew of over four
thousand. Responsible for the oversight and the operation of 1200/600
pound boiler operations, steam turbines, electrical/diesel generators and
air compressors. Conducted Senior Leadership classes and Safety training
and audits that resulted in reduced accident and injuries. Qualified as
Engineering Officer of the Watch.
Company Commander/Master Training Specialist (1987-1990). Trained incoming
recruits in basic military indoctrination. Administered discipline,
documented training progress and provided leadership and counseling.
Instructed introductory classes in marine engineering fundamentals.
Marine Engineer (1983-1987). Maintained, operated and repaired 1200 pound
steam power plants on the USS Saratoga (CV 60) and the USS Lynde McCormick
(DDG 8).
