Supervisor of Caster Scheduling

• Supervise production on two continuous casters. This entails:

o Monitoring all open sales orders to determine which grades of steel need to be

produced

o Prioritizing heats by width and grade to minimize transitions

o Instructing the caster scheduler regarding which heats were to be scheduled to

maintain a five day caster plan.

o Directing all scheduling efforts to maintain an on time melt/cast position to help ensure

on- time delivery to customers.

• Lead a project on behalf of Business Planning along with Steelmaking and Quality Assurance to

come up with alternatives for must LMF grades. This allowed us to put fewer grades through

LMF while increasing the quantity the remaining LMF grades.

• In conjunction with the LMF project, also led the effort to establish minimum tonnages ordered by

grade. These two projects combined reduced severe transition rates by 20%. They also helped

exceed the targets for reducing unapplied slab inventories by 10%.

• Assist Sales by troubleshooting delayed or problem automotive orders and recommended how

best to expedite the orders.

• Cross trained on Supervisor of Hot Strip Scheduling position.

• Managed a staff of two.

Caster Scheduling Coordinator

• Developed daily caster schedule based on priorities determined by Production Control Manager.

This entails:

o Determining which orders to produce.

o Arranging melt groups into a lineup.

o Instructing the caster scheduler regarding which heats were to be scheduled to

maintain a five day caster plan.

o Maintaining on-time delivery to customers.

• Monitored orders to resolve melt problems.

• Monitored slab inventory to determine disposition of aged and transitions slabs.

• Beta testing new in-house production scheduling system.

Production Scheduler

• Responsible for scheduling production on narrow-width hot strip mill and small diameter rod mill.

• Constantly monitored the feed stock levels for both mills.

• In conjunction with monitoring inventory levels, coordinated with melt shop scheduler as

necessary to ensure production of required grades of steel for feed stock.

• Daily duties included the tracking of production levels of five individual mills as well as reporting

all rolling shortages to sales division for communication with customers.

• Also responsible for automating production office reports.

Materials and Scheduling Coordinator

• Responsible for scheduling production on two tube mills in plant at Trenton, Georgia.

• Analyzed production history to determine optimum rolling cycles

• Monitored order activity to measure effects on production schedule

• Added drop-in sizes to rolling cycle where least change-over time was required.

• Additional duties included ordering monthly requirements of flat rolled steel from various

suppliers, expediting required materials to the plant, and monitoring inventory levels of raw

material at the facility. Also responsible for spot buying special order materials when necessary.
