healthcare in poor, rural areas of China; assisted by the Poverty
Alleviation Bureau and Bless China International (BCI). The Poverty
Alleviation Bureau was formed under the Vice Governor's Office of Diqing
Prefecture (Shangri-la) to raise the standard of living in their
prefecture's regions of abject poverty. BCI is an international, non-profit
organization (NGO) working in Yunnan province to promote higher medical
standards and education.
. Project Manager for the construction of elementary schools and medical
clinics in remote mountain Tibetan villages having no infrastructure
and typically only assessable by trail.
. Responsible for overall project planning and implementation as well as
the hands on duties of site selection, building design, drafting and
awarding of contracts, scheduling, building inspection, final
acceptance and payment.

overcoming communication barriers met in working with simple village

parking lots, including the associated design of drainage works: catch

Managed the Quality Control Program for a 12-million dollar expansion
project to the MCMWTC, a Marine Corp base in the Sierra Nevada mountain
range providing training in rock climbing and repelling, cross-country
skiing, mountain warfare strategy, and cold weather survival skills.
. Worked directly with the resident officer in command (R.O.I.C.), the
project manager, and the project foreman to execute all aspects of
quality control inspection and testing, recording and reporting,
coordination and communication.
. Managed team of concrete and grout testing technicians, structural
steel weld inspectors, and HVAC and electrical inspectors.
. Hands on responsibility for on-site inspection of reinforced-concrete
foundation construction, masonry (CMU) wall construction, structural
steel erection, and timber frame roof construction.

seismic design of RC bridges, the seismic inspection and retrofit of URM
historic buildings, and the structural design of RC facilities for the
Tillman and Sepulveda wastewater treatment plants. After which, rotating
into the Streets and Stormwater Division in accord with City policy,
valuable experience was gained in roadway design and inspection, and the
associated design and inspection of drainage works.

martial arts instructor at the internationally acclaimed Jet Center in
Van Nuys, California. Afterwards trained serious adult fighters down in
Imperial Beach, California, through a variety of group instruction
courses, including: kickboxing, men's mixed martial arts, women's self
defense, and a hand-to-hand combat course designed especially for the
Navy Seals and Border Patrol Agents in the region.
