Responsible for an AG OEM facility with Metal Fabrication,

Accomplishments:

. Turnaround success; from a plant in trouble, unable to meet

schedules or budgets, to a plant that successfully has had

over 30% growth in '05 & 30% again in'06 growth with product

built with in budget; successfully implemented second shift

operations to increase utilization of equipment; during this

period implemented new product with more options and

complexity. Cut the manufacturing responsibility warranty

costs in half. Reduced time to build a complete unit by 21%

in two years.

Establishing a Quality System, procedures, work instructions,

product process job instructions, and

2003 - 2004 Quality Assurance Manager DJ-Nypro El Paso Division

El Paso, Texas

Responsible for all Quality Assurance activities policies,

Quality Leadership, quality training, and communication with

customers in a 24/7 custom injection molding plant. Day to day

responsibility of all inspector packers, auditors, lab

personnel, quality engineers, and corrective and preventive

actions. This includes development of job folders with work

instructions for all operators. Responsible for 155 employees

with quality department and production packers. (downsized,

Accomplishments: I lead a team that persuaded the customer not

to pull $1.3 million in business.

2001 - 2003 Quality Manager Morton Custom Plastics

West Des Moines, Iowa

Responsible for all Quality Assurance activities (5 directs &

10 indirect reports) policies, quality leadership,

quality training and communication with customers, in a 24/7 custom

injection molding plant.

(Downsized, Business sold, new owners son took over quality

responsibility)

Accomplishments:

. Recovered Plant from ISO suspension, company removed from new

business hold.

. Improved quality by 35% up to 75%. Company achieved Partner

Level Supplier Award.

. Improved overall delivery rating by 80% with continuous

improvement team.

1999 - 2001 Product Quality & Supplier Manager Automotive

Lighting Juarez, Mexico

Responsible for all Supplier Quality Assurance activities and

policies, including selection of suppliers,

Supplier Development of 5 plastic injection molders and

receiving inspection.

Responsible for in-house quality of injection molding, coating,

metalizing, assembly of headlamps for 6

major carlines and communication with those customers, GM,

Ford, & Honda. (joint venture taken over

by Italian company, move to eliminate U.S. Managers; found

position in Iowa)

Accomplishments:

. Resolved a Quality Issue that was costing hundreds of

thousands of dollars in scrap, customer retrofit charges, and

expedited freight, (two 747 cargo planes per day from

Michigan to El Paso). This allowed the company to save well

over $600,000 dollars in expedited freight costs and scrap.

. Led a team to resolve Parts lacking full approval, an issue

that prevented payment of $6 million in tooling costs.

1995 - 1999 Lear Corporation Quality Assurance Manager

Juarez, Mexico

Responsible for all Quality Assurance activities, 9 direct and

24 indirect at three plants with 4,000

employees in Juarez, Mexico and 12 customers in the U.S.,

Canada, and Mexico. These plants are a

cut-&-sew operation, manufacturing automotive seat covers.

Accomplishments:

. Resolved Quality Issues, at several customer locations on

several different parts. The issues were so severe that

weekly teleconferences with the customer's corporate office

were being held when I started this position. I led the

weekly teleconference to inform customer's corporate VPs and

Customer Plant Managers of steps being taken to correct all

quality issues, presented graphs and data. Customer's quality

issues were contained and corrective action implemented.

Customer's Corporate VPs were calling the incident "Before

Mel and After Mel" the improvement was that dramatic in a

short period of time.

Lear Corporation

Customer Quality Assurance Manager (promoted)

Juarez, Mexico

Responsible for Customer Liaison activities, 2 direct and 9

indirect, for Lear's six plants in Juarez,

Mexico, facilitating Quality and Cost Improvements. These

plants, with over 12,000 employees,

are a cut and sew operation, manufacturing automotive seat

covers for General Motors, Ford, and

Chrysler at Forty Customer locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Accomplishments:

. Resolved Quality Issues at a customer; due to the high

profile attention this was receiving, the customer wanted

someone onsite, who had the authority to fix the issues. I

went, reviewed the issues and resolved various workmanship,

design, and shipping issues. Reducing rejects on the

customers' production lines, reducing scrap, and expedite

charges to replace non conforming product.

. Trained and established cross functional continuous

improvement teams by developing a training course from

seminars and courses I had taken. Savings were well over

$500,000 first year.

1970 - 1995 Zenith Electronics Corporation

Western Division

Quality Assurance responsibility for four manufacturing

operations including: Wood Cabinet

Manufacturing and Final TV Assembly in Juarez, Mexico; Two Cable

Products Electronic Assembly

Plants in Chihuahua, Mexico; and a Re-manufactured Module

Facility in Agua Prieta, Mexico.

Zenith's Western Mexico Operation employed 7,000 people with an

annual budget of $250 million.

The Quality Organization included three professional managers

and a supervision & technical staff of

sixty-six. Reported to the Vice-President of Manufacturing

Western Division. (downsized with others

before the sale to Goldstar)

Accomplishments:

. Resolved Quality Issues effecting Distributors and Dealers.

Spoke with Distributors and Dealers throughout the U.S.,

analyzed and implemented changes to the production process

and the quality system. Improved customer satisfaction, and

lowered warranty costs.

Quality Assurance Manager (1990-1994 promoted)

Juarez, Mexico

Responsible for All Quality Assurance activities, 4 directs &

38 indirect for two plants Wood Cabinet

Manufacturing and Final TV Assembly. Reported to the Director

of Quality located in Chicago.

Accomplishments:

. Successful resolution to quality issues causing excessive

rework and scrap charges at customer's plant. Eliminated

rework & scrap charges and lowered internal scrap & rework

costs without adding personnel.

. Established a new outgoing electronic finished product

quality department and programs when final assembly and

testing was moved from Springfield, Mo. to Juarez, Mexico.

This implementation was very successful; on time, within

budget and with no increase in warranty calls or cost. This

successful transfer saved the company millions of dollars in

labor costs.

. Efficiently implemented cost savings to reduce overall plant

& department labor budget requirements by 30% each year for

two consecutive years by working with other departments to

combine need activities and reports without affecting the

ability to produce a quality product or adversely effect

scrap or pursuit of continuous improvement efforts.

. Managed Purchased Video Product Quality Assurance Program

from suppliers in Japan and Korea. Evaluated new product at

supplier's location before purchase to ensure product was per

specifications and per contract in both Japan & Korea.

Evaluated and approved a new supplier, in Korea, by

performing an in depth audit of the suppliers quality system

and capabilities. Trained new personnel to make product

approval trips. A successful transfer from a supplier in

Japan to a supplier in Korea saved the company money.

Quality Assurance Reliability Audits Manager (1986-1988

promoted) Springfield, Mo.

Responsible for Reliability testing of regular production and

New Models for Color TV, Projection

TV and Video Product. Reported to the Director of Quality

located in Chicago.

Accomplishments:

. Established a complete new department and facilities for

Reliability Testing of Color TV and Projection TVs at

Springfield when the operation was moved from Chicago which

resulted in additional testing capacity and at a cost

reduction; more sets were tested with less people.

Quality Assurance Supervisor (1980-1986 promoted)

Supervised electronic technicians, who performed, safety tests,

transportation tests, finished product

visual and electrical tests.

Accomplishments:

. Responsible for establishment of inspection and testing

requirements for transfer of Projection TV and for a new

product for a new customer, Computer Monitors. Projection TV

production and testing was implemented successfully with a

cost savings. Computer Monitor production and testing was

successfully launched to the customers satisfaction.

Manufacturing Production Test & Analysis Supervisor (1974-1980

several finished goods and sub-assembly

Accomplishments:

. Called on to resolve quality, scrap, or personnel issues in

problem areas. I was the only supervisor to have worked all

five areas in a 4500 employee facility. Continuous

Improvement system put in place. I was a member of a team

that set a monthly production and quality record.
