2005 - 2006 Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, Assistant to Camp Manager and

Assistant to Camp Manager: Assessed all paperwork, including medical records
and birth certificates, for camp and organized it into individual files for
900 children.
Camp counselor (kids ages 5-6): Planned and prepared educational, fun, and
inclusive art, music, sports, nature, and swimming activities for 120 children
including those with special needs. Responsible for children with global
communication deficits and behavioral challenges due to autism spectrum
disorders and other developmental challenges for 20 hours per week. Consulted

crisis hotline for callers in crisis and responded to their needs.
Spoke with 15 callers each shift about issues such as domestic violence, drug
addiction, psychological disorders, identity crises, suicide, and rape.
Deescalated people in crisis mode by listening carefully and empathizing.
Referred callers to nurses, doctors and managers of homeless shelters.
Summer 2005: Outward Bound Wilderness Expedition: Backpacking in the Sierra
Nevada Mountains in CA with a group of 11 participants for one month.
Increased self-awareness, teamwork skills and knowledge of outdoor wilderness
survival techniques such as leave-no-trace.
