Project Engineer

Entered as a Process Lead Engineer and advanced to Area Engineering Manager

. Performed all duties required for project engineering design,

construction, and management.

. The projects and processes included oil refineries, monomer and

polymer units, nitro-paraffins production, a grassroots MTBE Plant,

tank farms, flare facilities, cryo-separation units, a 1300 kilometer

Gas Pipeline installation with compressor stations, a low sulfur DHT

Reactor Project at the Shell Wood River Refinery, and others.

. The Capital Project Scopes ranged from $30,000 to $680,000,000.

. The projects included "grass roots" installations, DCS retrofitting,

and upgrade/de-bottlenecking designs.

. Generated all process and project deliverables such as process design

data, hydraulic and relief load calculations, Process Flow Diagrams,

P&ID's, material requisitions, etc. for numerous projects.

. Coordinated P&I Ds and Process Flow diagrams with the AUTOCAD design

teams.

. Taught courses to the newer engineers on compressible multi-phase

fluid flow, relief loads, hydraulic networks, etc.

. Performed HAZOP studies on new and upgrade projects.

. Was used extensively as a project liaison on many projects.

Plant Project Engineer

Entered as a Technical Service Engineer and was promoted to Plant Process

Engineer for a full scale olefins unit. My duties included technical

service, plant optimization studies, and profitability and design of

projects under $100,000 for two Olefins Units.

. Monitored and recommended daily adjustments in operational parameters

to maintain unit efficiency.

. Increased operating efficiency of twenty hydrocarbon cracking

furnaces by 2.1% which resulted in a yearly savings of $8,200,000.

. Maintained statistical analysis records to direct operations.

. Participated in and chaired safety investigations using the Dupont

Fault Tree Analysis Method.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

. Have experience in a large number of computer software packages such

as Sim-Sci, Aspentech, HYSYS, and HTRI for process simulations and

optimizations, and AutoCAD for engineering drawings.

. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Power

Point, MS Project, etc.) and many other PC based programs.

. I made extensive use of Hyperchem 3, one of the newer molecular

modeling programs, during my Master's Thesis Project.

. Worked my way through college as a motorcycle mechanic and automobile

automatic transmission rebuilder.

. Have the ability to perform project management, project, and process

engineering.

HOBBIES

I design and build radio controlled airplanes and am currently writing a

fiction novel.
