Computer Field Service Technician

2003 - 2006

BI-LO / Bruno's Super Markets, Birmingham, AL

Consistently determine faults, repaired, installed and updated information

technology equipment (IT). Effectively repaired thick / thin client

systems, laser printers, installed Microsoft Server 2003, Windows NT and

Windows XP Operating Systems. Fixed faults with Cisco Routers, Switches,

Hubs, KVM Extenders, Access Points, and Lexmark Optra T 6XX Laser printers

and many other peripherals. Documented work in progress and assisted with

Quality Control Activities by validating Third-Party work by other

Technicians. Extensive training and experience in Leadership and

Management. Worked with local Telco's to determine and resolve T-1 issues.

Conducted diagnostic test, completed onsite component repair services and

coordinated Return Material Authorization (RMA) with Original Equipment

Manufacturers (OEM) on equipment under warranty. Repaired out of warranty

equipment with corporate owned depot parts. Migrated equipment as needed

Maintained two in store processors server (hotboxes) located in strategic

areas within the territory. Diagnosed and replaced defective hot swappable

hard disk drives, main boards, fans, and memory in faulty IBM servers.

Additional duties included Asset Management, UPS/FEDEX accounts, keeping

current inventory of spare replacement parts, keeping and maintaining a

company service vehicle, expense account, submitting timecards, managing

call schedule, and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLA's), responded to

off hours emergency calls as needed. Received, opened, and closed Problem

Retail Equipment Field Service Technician

1996 - 2003

Systech Retail Systems Inc, Dallas, TX

Worked independently and remotely to supported 40+ retail stores using a

wide variety of retail POS (Point of Sale) equipment. Duties included

advance problem determination, working with help desk, and multi level tech

support to resolve software and hardware equipment issues. Support

included Bruno's, K-Mart, Rack Room Shoes, Payless shoes, Sarah Lee Retail

Outlets, Kay Jewelers, Denney's and several others. Also responded to

emergency calls as needed. Additional duties included maintaining a remote

climate controlled parts facility, UPS/FEDEX accounts, current inventory of

spare replacement parts, keeping and maintaining a company service vehicle,

expense account, submitting timecard, managing call schedule, meeting

Service Level Agreements, responding to off hours emergency calls as needed

and keeping current Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee Department of

Managed 23+ Trainers in charged with conducting Leadership and Vocational

training for over 400 students annually. Conducted and maintained daily

operations of the academy. Evaluated formal classroom instruction and

developed staff members into effective Role Models and Trainers.

Assumed responsibilities of Commandant when absent. The end result formed

a closely knit organization with emphasis on training, safety, and personal

growth for trainers, and students alike. Responsible for mission

accomplishment, training, health and well being of over 150 soldiers both

in peace time and during deployment during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Supervised, shipping, receiving, warehousing and accountability of

ordinance and other equipment for 23 widely dispersed pre-positioned

locations in Southern Germany and two locations in South West Asia.

Controlled maintenance and accountability of automated Information

Technology equipment, transportation and material handling equipment valued

at over 250 million dollars, and resulting in tens of thousands of accident

free miles, mission accomplishment, as well as improving safety and

training standards over all.
