2006-2008 - Project Manager, IRC/TT Electronics, Boone, NC Management
responsibility for moving a MIL qualified manufacturing process line from
Smithfield, NC to Boone, NC. Duties included:
- Profit and Loss responsibility of the product line; budget
responsibility for the move.
- Development and management of a master plan for the move.
- Management of over 30 employees.
- Responsible for the hiring and training of all employees in the new
manufacturing location.
- Coordination with Sales in the management of all production schedules.
- Primary customer service liaison for critical issues.
1990 - 2005 - General Manager, Carolina West Wireless, Wilkesboro, NC.
Management responsibility for cellular telecommunications company in
northwest North Carolina reporting to the Board of Directors. Duties
included:
- Development of the company from infancy and growth.
- Profitability of the company.
- Responsibility for management staff of six including Financial
Controller, Outside Sales & Marketing, Retail Sales, Human Resources,
Engineering, and Business Operations.
- Development of products and services to meet marketplace needs.
- Development of company marketing and engineering annual business plans
and budgets.
- Development of strategic planning.
- Representing the company in industry associations, the Federal
Communications Commission, state Public Utilities Commission, and in
lobbying efforts to Congress.
Built over $25 Million telecommunications infrastructure with 66 employees
and grew the company to over $32 Million in annual revenues with EBITDA of
30%. Achieved market share of over 20% compared to national average of
11%.
1989 - 1990 - Quality Assurance Manager / Engineering Manager,
International Resistive Company (IRC), Boone, NC. Management
responsibility for quality and engineering departments. In addition to
engineering departmental duties I was responsible for quality goals and
programs for resistive products used in military, automotive, and computer
applications. Attained Ford Motor Co. Q1 quality rating.
1979 - 1989 - Engineering Manager, International Resistive Company
(IRC), Boone, NC. (Formerly TRW). Management responsibility for
engineering staff associated with four product lines. Our department was
responsible for engineering support of production processes; compliance
with applicable environmental standards; and the development of new
products in cooperation with sales and application engineers.
1976 - 1979 - Product Engineer, TRW/IRC, Newland, NC. Responsible for
engineering support of production processes for the Metal Glaze resistive
components.
