American Access Technologies Inc, Keystone Heights, Florida, 2004 to
Present
I am currently working as the Chief Design Engineer and Project Engineer
and occasional Trumpf 3050 Laser Machine programmer of in house
communication related products, and other related customer based products,
in this Job Shop. My responsibilities involve working with sketches,
customer ideas, reverse engineering samples for production runs, and
assisting other engineers for there designs and eventual fabrication needs.
Complex Sheet Metal Assemblies, Support Frame Assemblies, Prototyping, and
packaging many different types of electronics are also part of my
expertise. I am responsible for the development of comprehensive shop floor
drawings for all the manufacturing levels ranging from the initial design
of 3d models for the Sheet Metal, and CNC milling machine programmers to
use in their CAM software, Hardware installation, Forming operations,
Welding, Finishing Spec's, Assembly, and everything in between. Computer
Aid Design Software used is Pro-e Wildfire 4.0, and Autocad. I work
exclusively and Assist Sales engineers to develop proposals, new designs
and also am involved in product development meetings on a daily to weekly
basis, depending on priorities. I introduce newly developed products to the
United Laboratories for product approval, and am familiar with Listing, and
Multilisting UL rated parts and assemblies into the system. I review shop
routers and improve manufacturing and engineering processes such as weld
procedures and engineering workflow. I am responsible for our document
control drawing database including any and all ECN's, ECR's and RN's that
need to be incorporated into the system, and all of the new and old product
line projects that are introduced per customer request. Have been through
many ISO Design Review Audits and am familiar with the documentation and
requirements needed to qualify with ISO related regulations. I have
developed projects and packaged electronics for many high end companies
such as Tyco Electronics, Leviton, Cisco Systems, Hubbell, Panduit,
Commscope/Systimax, Johnson & Johnson, Chatsworth Products Inc., Xirrus,
and Comcast. I am a Lean Manufacturing engineer with many years of shop
floor experience which has transposed into precise DFSS and detailed
engineering skills on a professional level.
Products Support Inc. Jessup, Md., 1986 to 2004
Holding the title of a Process/Manufacturing Engineer, and working in a Job
Shop, I deal with many types of manufacturing and engineering challenges.
My main job description is Planning Procedures for the Sheet Metal, and the
Machining Dept. and creating the most efficient and cost effective job flow
through the shop utilizing Micro Shop, our accounting system, to make
routers that I send to the floor. I am also responsible for the Welding and
the Assembly Departments flow as well. My estimators design the essential
flow of a job, and I incorporate the procedures in the process. Using
Autocad, and the earlier versions of Pro-e and up to the Wildfire Version
as a main source of modeling and design, I create Machined, and Sheet Metal
Parts for Manufacturing and Fabrication. I program, and maintain the flow
for two Trumpf Punch Press machines. I use Merry Mechanization as a C.A.M.
package for posting the G-Code for fabrication on the floor. Before the
purchase of Trumpf, model 500 machines, I also maintained, Operated and
eventually programmed Amada machines with GE, and Fanuc controllers. We
also have a Variety of Vertical and Horizontal Milling machines in which I
have designed many Jigs, and Fixtures and assisted Machine Shop Programmers
in creating Solid Geometry for customers and converting files to .igs,
.stp, and Dxf files for their usage in the C.A.M. software they use. More
recently I have designed a 22 Slot, Card Cage Assembly for Cisco in which
we are awaiting a large contract for. It consist of almost all sheet metal
parts in a riveted and screw fastener type assembly with many type of press
in hardware locations. Drawings are created by myself and scanned into a
server for re-printing on repeat orders. I work directly with engineers on
a daily basis from companies such as E-Systems, D.O.D., Naval Sea Systems,
Comtek, Corvis, Naval Air Systems Command, Honeywell, Optinel, Comsat,
Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, just to name a few that are part of our
database of customers. I am familiar with Government procedures and the
processes and structure for Government manufacturing. I have reverse
engineered many a part and assembly and have applied it to Pro-e for the
manufacturing process.
Washington Aluminum, Catonsville, Md.
At this job I was a 2nd Class Sheet Metal Mechanic, and responsibilities
involved fitting and constructing various close tolerance parts per
supplied drawings. I mostly worked with custom extrusions, angle, and sheet
metal that formed various structures. Mechanics handled almost all
operations from start to finish except for shearing and forming, and had a
welder assigned to them.
A.J. Sackett & Sons, Baltimore, Md.
Started as a helper, and worked up to become a Fitter/Welder.
Responsibilities here
involved the building and constructing of various types of farm related
machinery and
equipment such as conveyors, elevators, thatchers, hoppers, etc.. Also at
this job the fitters handled all operations from start to finish, which
included the welding aspect of
assembly. Type of welding performed was Stick, and Mig Welding.
United States Marine Corp
Duties: Assigned to the National Security Agency as a Marine Guard for the
N.S.A. complex. Communications Equipment Management, Supply Management,
Mail Room Clerk. I was granted a Secret Clearance by the C.I.D. for a tour
at the National Security Agency at Fort Meade Maryland.
Education
I have achieved my Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and currently
practicing the methodology at my current work environment. I am Currently
enrolled and in the process in achieving my Six Sigma Black Belt and
Project Management Certification.
I completed 2 course study modules for Pro-e with involved the Introduction
to Pro-e, and Sheet Metal Design.
I attended and completed a 2 year course at Data Processing Institute in
Baltimore Maryland. At this Technical school the course studies were
Computer Programming and Systems Operations And Maintenance. Languages
studied were COBOL, RPGII, and Assembler ( ALC ). The System used was a
Burroughs B1905 series Mainframe. Graduated with a 90% average and received
a certificate of completion.
I attended a 4 month course while in the armed forces on Marine Corp
Integrated Maintenance Management Systems ( MIMMS ). This involved the
updating of inventoried communication equipment through a networking
system.
I am a High School graduate and attended Comsewogue H.S. in Long Island New
York
where I am originally from.
Qualifications
Included in my experience in engineering management I have worked with and
solved many problems associated in the manufacturing environment as a team
player and also as an individual. I have managed hundreds of different
projects ranging from customer conceptual design prototypes to high volume
production runs, with involvement of all manufacturing, and fabrication
operations from the receiving of certified materials to all phases of
fabricating methods, to the shipping of the product to the customer. My
responsibilities include the Lean Manufacturing Methods of today's
standards to the practice of Six Sigma Methodologies. Holding titles of
Design Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Engineer, I have been
responsible for the success of many workers in their completion of a
Quality made part. I demand feedback from shop floor personnel for any
project with discrepancies, and am open minded to arguments and ideas in
creating a better product.
