Minor in Biology with a concentration in Biochemistry.
Courses include
Biochemistry, Organic Polymers, Instrumental Analysis, Cell
Biology,
Quantitative Analysis, and Advanced Physiology.
RESEARCH
Student member of Texas Academy of Sciences.

EXPERIENCE
EXXON MOBIL, Beaumont, Texas March 2007-Present
Laboratory Technician (Contract work through Kelly Scientific)
Have worked in a 12hr rotating shift position performing routine
quality control tests on catalyst and synthetic samples in the
Jordan, B and P, and Refinery labs. Received positive feed back
from supervisor regarding laboratory technique, safety record,
and technical writing skills. Routinely use AA, XRD, ICP, Karl
Fisher, viscometers, and other instruments to run tests.
Learned how to use Exxon Mobil's current version of LIMS.
Received positive feedback from coworkers about time management,
team work, and multitasking capabilities.
Spent time assisting chemist with instrument maintenance and
special project testing. Trained myself in my spare time on
another job with assistance from a coworker who performed that
job, and then was prepared to fill in that position on short
notice after the hurricane.
INVISTA, Orange, Texas August
2006-March 2007
Laboratory Technician (Contract work through Kelly Scientific)
Worked a 12 hour rotating shift in the chemical intermediates
laboratory. Responsible for running quality control tests,
safety analyses, and identification tests on a large variety of
samples. Frequently used GC, UV-Vis, automatic titration, FTIR,
conductivity meters, XRF, AA, and TOC instruments. Also was
responsible for running color inspections, pH, manual
titrations, distillation columns, and PRI tests. Communicated
with the control room regularly and performed any extra tasks as
needed. I am comfortable working around hazardous chemicals and
safety is a top priority at all times.
LANXESS, Orange, Texas June 2005-
August 2006
Laboratory Technician (Contract work through Kelly Scientific)
Checked the finished product for contamination and hard
particles by using an optical test to take pictures of solid
contamination that were too small to be seen with the naked eye.
The contamination levels of the various polymers tested were
carefully monitored during the manufacturing process in order to
produce high quality material. Color, torque, elasticity, and
visible flaws in product were also monitored and results were
communicated to the production unit. Extra testing was performed
at the request of the production engineer as needed. Cold and
hot mills, a heat press, extruders, microscopic digital imaging,
balances, and commercial mixers were among the most frequently
used equipment.
LABORATORY SKILLS
Extraction, ICP, AA, GC, HPLC, XRD, XRF, viscosity, emulsion, CIC,
solution prep, acid work, tissue staining, gravimetric analysis,
wet chemistry, and experience evaluating GC scans.
