Stayton, Oregon

Maintenance Supervisor:

The Stayton Facility produced Floor Joists (TJI's) of different length

and sizes. The facility employed 130

associates in all departments. As a maintenance supervisor, I Supervised

18 maintenance associates, a

planner and two storeroom associates to perform maintenance activities in

the most safe and cost

effective manor. Duties in this position include:

Conduct daily safety meeting with the maintenance crew

Assign work to the leads and provide technical advise as needed

Provide safety training to all associates through SJI's and JI's and

provide completed training records to the safety department

Provide technical training on different topics such as hydraulics,

pneumatics, PLC's and other maintenance tasks as necessary

Review and approve time sheets each week for all maintenance associates

Utilize SAP (CMMS system) to manage maintenance backlog and work closely

with the maintenance planners to schedule maintenance work.

Work closely with production department to solve problems and make

decisions that benefit the plant and the company as a whole.

Provide on the job supervision to maintenance associates

Manage associates and contractors through shut down work

Manage the preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve

equipment reliability

Enforce plant safety and operating procedures and insure compliance to

local, state and federal regulation.

There are many other tasks associated with the maintenance supervisor

position that I perform daily. I started a PM program in this plant that

improved equipment reliability within weeks. I was also the Process

Reliability champion in this plant. I provided process reliability and

equipment basic care training. I believe in working safely and holding

people accountable to perform quality work the first time.

3/2001 - 4/2007 J.R. Simplot Co. Pocatello, Idaho

The Don Plant in Pocatello produced elemental fertilizer from Phosphate

Ore that was pumped to the plant through a 95 mile long pipeline from the

mine in Smoky Canyon. The plant employed approximately 400 associates in

all departments. The maintenance department had 150 associates including

electricians, mechanics and supervisors. As you will see below, I started

with the Simplot company in the engineering department. Managers at the

facility were impressed with my management skills with contractors so

they offered me a management position in the maintenance department as a

maintenance supervisor. Below is a breakdown of my different positions in

this plant:

3/2001 - 10/2001 : Engineering Technician :

Provide field construction supervision for large capital and maintenance

projects. Assist managers in focusing on core projects issues.

Responsible for managing the " Digline " system for Simplot in the

Pocatello area. This system is a state wide cooperative effort to prevent

costly accidental damage to underground facilities through a notification

and location network. Additional responsibilities revolve around

assuring contractor compliance with safety and environmental requirement

as well as maintaining existing facilities at the plant. Additional

duties while in this position include :

Provide construction supervision and inspection for plant project

managers.

Monitor contractors to assure compliance with plant safety and

environmental requirements.

Manage plant's Dig - line system to help prevent accidental damage to

slurry and impoundment pipelines.

Resolve questions on drawings and construction specifications.

Assist contractors in obtaining safe work permits.

Implement, secure funding for and oversee plant maintenance projects.

10/2001 - 4/2002 & 7/2005 - 4/2007: Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Supervisor:

Provide supervision for 7 specialists in the preventive & predictive

maintenance department, 2 machinists in the machine shop, 2 mechanics in

the mobile shop crew and 4 specialists in the pump rebuild shop. Manage a

certified PDM crew to prevent equipment failure through proper

lubrication and PM's and to predict equipment failure through vibration

and thermographic analysis. Manage, plan and schedule the work in the

machine shop to fabricate parts such as shafts, couplings, seal glands,

rollers, pistons and many other parts to satisfy stores inventory and to

complete projects in a timely manor. Supervise the maintenance of a large

fleet of mobile equipment to maintain them in good condition and to

prevent failure. Assure satisfying spare pump inventory through

scheduling and planning pumps to be rebuild in the pump rebuild shop.

This includes purchasing parts through various vendors and hold high

standard of expectations to insure top quality work. Other duties and

responsibilities include:

Work closely with other departments to plan down - days in such a way to

minimize loss of production.

Utilize an electronic maintenance data base program (JDE) to plan and

schedule work, order parts, enter requisitions and generate work orders.

Work with stores to ensure adequate spare parts are available on stock

and inventory kept to minimum cost levels.

Evaluate maintenance performance/bad actors in equipment downtime,

failure mode, high costs to develop and implement. solutions to reduce

cost and increase reliability.

Conduct failure analysis of unusual or complex machinery problems.

Evaluate alternate solutions and develop projects to effect corrective,

upgrades, and new installations to achieve reliability and cost

improvement.

4/2002 - 7/2005: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor:

In this position, I managed as many as 45 mechanics including Multi

skilled mechanics, welders and pipe fitters. My responsibilities were to

provide management and technical skills needed to insure plant equipment

is highly reliable, parts are available, and capital projects are

implemented in a timely and cost effective manner. Responsibilities

included but not limited to:

Supervise, direct, and assign work to mechanics and contractors. Purchase

parts, supplies, equipment, and services in a cost effective manner for

planned maintenance activities to assure proper equipment is on site when

needed.

Plan and schedule the department work efforts to ensure optimum

utilization of manpower and materials.

Coordinate with other departments to provide technical assistance for

implementing capital projects.

Lead in employee training in an effort to continually develop and

strengthen their abilities to accomplish objectives.

Discuss any problems employees may have in regards to company policies

and/or procedures; participate in facilities problem solving.

7/1999 - 3/2001: Shirtliff Engineering Pocatello, Idaho

Civil Engineering Designer:

Design various projects using computer drafting software (Auto Cad) and

civil engineering design software (Eagle Point). Responsible for

generating blue prints for residential and commercial developments and

follow the projects through the approval process of local and state

agencies. Upon completion of the design phase one of my responsibilities

was to assist in the bidding process and manage the construction phase of

the project to insure compliance to the plans and specifications. Other

duties also included scheduling the surveying crew to perform the field

work to collect or provide data for the projects. And also manage

contractors during the construction phase of the projects.

6/1997 - 7/1999: Shepherd Engineering Pocatello, Idaho

Surveying & Construction Manager:

Manage the surveying crew to work in accordance with the designers' needs

to collect field data that assisted in the design of various residential

and commercial projects. Responsible for the design of various projects

and see them through the approval process. Manage contractor activities

during construction phase of the projects to insure compliance to plans

and specifications.

3/1993 - 6/1997: Keller Associates Boise, Idaho

Survey crew chief / Construction Lead Inspector

Lead the surveying crew to perform various activities to support the

design team. Assist the design team with creating blue prints for

transportation and utility projects. Assist with creating project

specifications as well as O&M manuals. Manage the contractors during

construction activities and insure compliance to plans and

specifications. Manage change orders and installed equipment and

recommend payment to contractors based on actual quantities installed.

Generate as - built drawings after project completion for record keeping.
