HVAC and plumbing system design for variety of commercial,
institutional and
government projects. Responsible for complete HVAC design, drawings,
schedules & specifications, modifications of plumbing design and
sealing
mechanical drawings on most projects. Worked under supervision of
senior
professional engineer. Examples of work include:
. Beasley TV Studio - Appalachian State Univ. - designed HVAC system using
new RTU DX units to tie in with existing ductwork for TV studio/classroom
building. Added duct humidifiers for areas with sensitive electronics.
Modified existing VAV system in several areas for new occupancy/space
usage.
. Waddell Recreational Center New Wing Addition - designed HVAC system with
multiple RTU DX units for new community recreational center wing which
includes cafeteria/multipurpose space, kitchen, offices, restrooms, etc.
. Emmanuel Baptist Daycare Center - designed HVAC system with multiple
split gaspak units for new church daycare center addition.
. Dr. Black Dental Office - designed HVAC and plumbing system for dental
office using single RTU DX unit and VVT/Bypass Damper zone control.
. Hangar No. 2 - Charlotte Douglas Int'l Airport - designed HVAC and
plumbing system for new office addition in business jet hangar using
split HVAC gaspak system and VVT/Bypass Damper system.

Mechanical Engineer
Responsible for complete HVAC design, drawings, schedules &
specifications, supervision/modifications of plumbing design and
sealing all
mechanical and plumbing drawings. Prepared hourly estimates for
potential jobs prior to being awarded work and estimated costs of
HVAC & plumbing. Examples of work include:
. WNC Agricultural Center (30,000 sq.ft.) - designed evaporative cooling
and direct-fired heating system for state livestock showroom facility.
System uses internal pressure sensors to adjust exhaust fan VFD to keep
internal pressure negative so that particulates are adequately diluted;
evaporative cooling system supplies cool draft in summer and costs less
than air conditioning of large indoor space that does not require comfort
cooling. Performed LCCA to determine best alternative for design options
as requested by NC State Construction Office.
. Resnick Medical Office (< 2000 sq.ft.) - HVAC design of medical office in
Charlotte that uses VVT/Bypass damper zone temperature control system and
packaged RTU with natural gas.
. Concord Regional Airport Hangar (25,000 sq.ft.) - designed radiant
heating and ventilation system for new hangar that uses propane.
Includes 3.5 ton office HVAC system with VVT/Bypass zone temp. control
system to tie in with existing Carrier Control Network.
. Mitchell County Jail (2-story, >15,000 sq.ft.) - HVAC and smoke control
system design. HVAC system uses packaged RTU's with single zone control.
Smoke control system design includes multiple zones monitored at fire
alarm control panel with each having either RTU fan active or dedicated
MAU for fresh air and dedicated smoke exhaust fan in event of smoke
detection for smoke evacuation.

HVAC Design Engineer
. HVAC design for churches, office buildings, medical buildings, hotels,
restaurants, laboratories, data centers, etc. Full design
responsibilities include load calculations, equip. selection, air
distribution and duct sizing, schedules and drawings.
. Campus chillwater system redesign - Furman University; performed equip.
sizing calculations, pipe sizing, head loss calculations and drawings.
. Hospital HVAC expansion and modification including VAV relocation and
replacements; calculated loads for new space usage, relocated some
existing VAV boxes and specified new ones based on zone load
requirements; created demolition and new plan drawings for system under
supervision of senior professional engineer.
. Chillwater system design for process cooling - new National Gypsum plant;
assisted senior prof. engineer with equip. sizing calculations, piping,
head loss calculations, pipe supports and drawings.
