Hired on a project basis to help Lockheed Martin upgrade the passenger

security screening areas at the Kansas City International Airport.

Served as the Logistics Lead and prepared Bills of Material, then

coordinated procurement, transportation, and warehousing of materials

required for the project.

electrical wire, automotive OEM and aftermarket, wiring harnesses and

accessories. Was responsible for all purchasing, inventory control, and

receiving. Also production scheduling, QC/QA, AP, and supervisory

responsibilities.

. Improved inventory accuracy through the implementation of improved

procedures and controls.

. Reduced inventory from nearly $5 million to approximately $3.5

million.

. Implemented a quasi-kanban material pull system and elements of

lean manufacturing.

Hired on a project basis by this U.S. subsidiary of a Norwegian company

that manufactured high-end intercom systems used by customers such as the

CBOE, NYSE, and U.S. Navy. Reported to the President and supervised a

staff of three. 60% of product was imported from Norway and 40% was

manufactured by sub-contractors in U.S. Was responsible for forecasting,

procurement, and importation. Was hired due to a large project for two

power plants in China to install intercom, telephone, lighting,

timekeeping and warning systems.

. Ensured that 76 pallet loads of materials were shipped to China on

time and on budget.

. Reduced lead times from suppliers.

Left job when my position was eliminated due to "downsizing" (which

coincided with completion of

large industrial China power plant project).

May93-Jun.94 Senior Buyer, Material Requirements and Inventory Specialist

(Project),

Science Applications International Corporation

(electronics, electrical, computers/peripherals/

Hired on a project basis by the Transportation Division of SAIC, which had

secured a contract to implement tracking systems for 80% of the U.S.

railroad system. Was responsible for procurement of hardware,

electronics, computers, and hardware in a high growth environment (sales

grew from $9 mm to $42 mm).

Later became MRP and Inventory Specialist. Trained in the use of Fourth

Shift integrated software.

Left company when new ownership (Syntronics) eliminated my position.

Jan.90-Dec.91 Purchasing and Materials Control Manager, GDG Inc. (steel,

aluminum, hardware) Lawrence,

KS

Hired because of experience with MAPICS II MRP software. Reported to the

VP/GM and was responsible for all purchasing and material control for

this 250,000 esq. factory that employed up to 150 and manufactured

overhead garage doors and related products. The main commodity purchased

was steel - bought from primary and secondary markets. Annual spend was

approximately $20 million.

. Started up and operated the MAPICS II MRP system.

. Helped implement SPC to improve quality and reduce scrap.

. Improved inventory accuracy.

. Reduced inventory levels.

. Implemented JIT system with Great Plains Steel in Kansas City,

reducing costs by purchasing steel one coil at a time, as consumed.

Left company as new management team was being installed and 2 hour

daily commute became too

much.

Aug.87-Sep.89 Central Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager, Forest

Siding Supply/Thermal Technology

Industries (siding, roofing, home building

products), N. Kansas City, MO

Reported directly to the President of this $35 million privately owned

distributor of home improvement products with 12 separate distribution

centers, and was responsible for all purchasing and inventory control.

Supervised 12 Warehouse Managers regarding Purchasing and Inventory

Control matters.

. Working with a programmer, designed from scratch an automated

forecasting, purchasing, and inventory control system.

. Debugged and started up the automated system, which improved

service levels from 94% to 97% and reduced annual inventory

expenditure by $534,000.

. Improved inventory turns from approximately 7 to over 12 and

negotiated extended payment terms.

My position was eliminated upon the successful implementation of an

automated purchasing,

requirements forecasting, and inventory control system which I

designed.
