My name is Hasan Bakia. I am a geologist I have worked in the southern part of Albania
exploring oil and gas deposits. Also, I have worked as a member of the Team that worked hard to
compile the geological map of Albania (1:200000), and its explanation textbook. I have known
Spiro Llakmani since 1987. At that time, my Team worked in the southeastern Albania to gather
additional data on the textbook of Geological Map of Albania. Our base was installed at the
Geological Enterprise of Pogradec (Albania), where Spiro came almost every day to work on
chromium, coal and iron exploration projects. We needed lots of data from the region, where
Spiro worked. Spiro gave us everything we needed the most: geological maps, cross sections,
vertical and horizontal projections, and so on.
In 1992, I left Albania. In 2005, I met Spiro again, when he came to U.S.A. I was happy,
when I learned he was trying to find a new job as a geologist here.

My name is Feridon Palla. From 1987 to 1997, I have been CEO of the Pojska Chromium
Mine, Pogradec, Albania. For more than 11 years, I have worked together with Spiro Llakmani.
Two first years, Spiro Llakmani has worked as mining geologist and exploration geologist. Later,
he has been the chief of the geological service of the above mentioned enterprise. His
responsibilities have been, as the follows:
- Compiling technical projects on exploration, opening and exploitation of the iron, coal and
chromium deposits, which belonged to the above mentioned enterprise.
- Compiling technical exploitation passports for each block of the ore deposit.
- Taking samples from galleries and wells to determine the quality of the mineral deposit.
- Calculation of the geological reserves according to the discovery scale of the ore deposits from
prospect to the detailed discovery. -
Construction of geological maps, cross sections, vertical and horizontal projections, maps of
variations of the mineral quality and quantity toward ore body strike and dip.
- Orientation of mining and geological works like: galleries, pits, wells and trenches.
- Documentation of the above mentioned works. -

My name is Ismail Hysenbegasi. From 1985 to 1999, I have been the Chief of the
Geological and Mining Department of Geology and Mine Ministry. I have known Spiro
Llakmani since 1987, when he started as mining and exploration geologist at the Pojska
Chromium Mine, Pogradec, Albania. This enterprise was a state propriety and depended upon the
above mentioned Ministry. So, from 1987 to 1999, I have been Spiro’s boss.
He has been a mining and exploration geologist for the two first years. Later, he has been
the chairman of the Geological Service of the above mentioned enterprise. He led ten specialists
(geologists and surveyors) to complete all his office duties. He was responsible for:
- Compilation of the exploration, mining and exploitation projects for chromium, iron and coal,
deposits. Also, he had to support all those projects at my department.
- Direction of geological mining and exploration works (wells, trenches, galleries and pits).
- Documentation of all the above mentioned works.
- Taking samples in the mineral bodies.
- Modeling the iron, coal and chromium deposits.
- Composition of the geological maps, vertical and horizontal projections, cross-sections, and the
maps of variations of quality and quantity of the useful components of the ore bodies toward
their strike and dip.
- Structural and tectonic deciphering of the chromium iron and coal deposits. It’s very important
