I am bilingual (Japanese/English & working on Portuguese) with six years of
experience calling on Japanese OEMs and tier one suppliers. During that
time I was responsible for internal & external account management,
identifying & soliciting new accounts, raw material planning, in-process
inventory control, and customer shipments. In addition, I have held a
management position where I was responsible for departmental budget
control, annual planning and personnel development.
I got my start in sales at American Fine Sinter, a small Japanese
transplant company in the Toyota Group. There I was able to advance to
Manager of Sales & Production Control. I ended up receiving an offer to go
work for National Machinery, an international equipment manufacturer that
involved a very attractive overseas assignment. Unfortunately, shortly
after taking the position at National Machinery, the economy declined
sharply and I was part of a mass layoff. There wasn't much available in
North-West Ohio or South-East Michigan at the time, so we decided to take
that opportunity to live in Brazil, so I could learn my wife's native
Portuguese and wait for the economy to improve.
I'm a good fit for this position due to my experience calling upon Japanese
OEMs and tier one suppliers. I also speak/read/write Japanese fluently and
am extremely comfortable with the Japanese business culture and
expectations. In addition, while at National Machinery, I worked with all
of our Asian accounts. I studied Chinese for a year, have been to China,
and worked closely with our Chinese sales office. I also have some
experience working with the Korean OEMs and am somewhat familiar with the
Korean business culture.
In addition to the above, I am proactive, used to putting in extra time as
necessary, have a strong sense of urgency, and am good at utilizing my
Japanese language and experience with the culture to help facilitate
communication and understanding between American and Japanese staff.
I look forward to further discussing my qualifications with you. I can be
reached anytime at 419-***-****.
Sincerely,
Jared Ridoutt
