An analytical, performance driven engineering professional, with 18 years
of proven experience creating innovative, cost-efficient designs. My
expertise has focused on new concept development, cost estimation,
simulation, validation, and testing. I have broad experiences ranging from
design and prototyping to permanent mold castings, investment castings,
welding, machining, tube bending/forming, heat treatment, and plating. I
possess superior problem solving and time management skills. Team oriented
with effective communication and presentation skills. Proven leader with a
strong work ethic, and the ability to reduce costs while improving the
level of support. Proficient with Unigraphics/NX3, Autodesk Inventor,
AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
Professional Objective
Pursuing a challenging position in an engineering environment where I can
apply my unique and diverse skill set while achieving corporate objectives,
reducing operational costs and exceeding customer expectations.
Professional Experience
2006 - 2010 Renk Labeco Test Systems Corp. Mooresville, IN
Mechanical Engineer / Program Manager / Sales Engineer
. Negotiated and awarded a $35 million contract with Clemson University
to build test equipment for a large wind turbine drive train test
facility in Charleston, SC.
. Designed and installed a tank transmission test stand for China North
Vehicle Research Institute (NOVERI) in Beijing, China to be used for
gear development.
. Obtained a 28% reduction in manufacturing costs for the tank
transmission test stand through negotiations with vendors.
. Designed, developed, and implemented a main transmission test stand
for The Boeing Company to aid in gear development for the Apache
helicopter (RDS21 / Block III)
1997 - 2006 ArvinMeritor Columbus, IN
Test Facility Manager
. Developed a program with the assistance of the IT department to
expedite and increase quality of the testing performed in the hot
durability laboratory.
. Increased the throughput in the laboratory approximately 20% by
implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and
scheduling the test cells more efficiently.
. Integrated TS/ISO-16949 into the existing QS-9000 quality system.
. Instituted cross-functional training of all personnel, improved
communication with engineering departments to create better test
methodology, implemented test plan development and cost reduction
initiatives.
Sr. Product Design Engineer
. Designed exhaust systems for DaimlerChrysler now used in over
1,000,000 automobiles throughout the world.
. Collaborated with DaimlerChrysler engineers to improve performance,
eliminate noise, increase durability, and reduce manufacturing costs
of the Jeep Liberty exhaust system. We were able to reduce emissions
by 15% while increasing horsepower by 35%. Durability was increased by
over 45% due to improved testing methods that allowed for design
modifications to the support structures of the automobile. Estimated
cost savings to DaimlerChrysler exceeded $2,000,000.
Process Engineer
. Designed a new production line layout that reduced the number of
operators required to produce GM truck exhaust systems. Annual cost
savings exceeded $100,000.
. Increased the quality of catalytic converters by assisting in the
development of new manufacturing methods.
. Designed a rotary weld fixture that allowed multiple exhaust systems
to be produced on fewer pieces of equipment. Cost savings exceeded
$120,000 and equipment was reallocated to new production lines which
eliminated the need to purchase new equipment.
1996-1997 Ertel Manufacturing Corp. Indianapolis, IN
1989-1995
Plant Engineer
. Designed permanent molds for casting aluminum pistons.
. Designed tooling, jigs, and fixtures for machining purposes.
. Analyzed SPC data to determine mold modifications.
. Developed gages for quality assurance testing.
. Designed and implemented quality assurance charts.
. Supervised engineering and quality assurance technicians.
1995-1996 Rolls Royce (Allison Engine Co.) Indianapolis, IN
Manufacturing Engineer
. Developed processes for investment casting aerospace components.
. Improved process documentation for ISO-9000.
. Created process and tooling for airflow testing of turbine vanes and
blades.
