Responsible for creating, implementing and
maintaining the business strategy of the
environmental, health and safety programs in a
linear fluorescent manufacturing facility,
considered to be one of the most complex facilities
in the General Electric Consumer and Industrial
organization. Provide leadership, support and
training to two EHS Technicians. Successfully
renewed a complex Ohio EPA Title V Permit.
Coordinates all aspects of the facilities hazardous
waste program in accordance with all requirements
of a large quantity generator. Concluded three
Ohio EPA Audits without a single notice of
violation. Drove a 47% reduction in incident rate
and 50% reduction in the days away from work rate.
Rated as a role model for my peers during the last

Responsible for formulating general safety policies
and procedures to be followed by company personnel
in compliance with local, state, and federal rules
and regulations for a specialty grades paper mill.
Lead the investigation of accidents, near misses,
and injuries. Cooperate in the gathering and
preparation of evidence for the organization's use
in the review of existing policies and procedures,
best safety practices, and insurance
investigations. Develop an annual written safety
business plan to drive a consistent safety culture
for the business. Coordinate and write safety
communication newsletters, safety advisories, and
briefings. Devise, supervise, and deliver training
programs or media, which will increase proficiency
in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
Directly supervise six Security Officers.
Championed OHSAS 18001 certification. Implemented
changes to the mill's permit required confined
space entry procedure, resulting in savings of over
$60,000 in 2005. Responsible for a department
budget in excess of $400,000. Manage the mill's
Workers' Compensation and Transitional Work
programs. Lead the mill's Joint Health and Safety
Committee, which is comprised of members of
management and of the local union. Reduced the
Total Incident Rate by 44% and Total Severity Rate
by 33%.
