Girl Scout - Troop 175
Girl Scouts of South Central AL, 145 Coliseum Blvd, Montgomery AL
Felicia Tyus, 272-9164
I am a member of an organization that has allowed me to grow and mature
within. Being a Girl Scout member and volunteer has provided me
opportunities to develop leadership skills, the ability to organize,
manage, and carry out projects, personal growth skills such as self-esteem,
courage, strength and the ability to lead and follow. Like most
organizations there are rules and procedures you must follow. I have
adapted to the rules and procedures of being a Girl Scout and I have been a
good student as well as teacher of the rules and procedures. I have held
the position of Troop President which requires me to plan, coordinated, and
execute activities. I have held the position of treasurer which required me
to account for the funds coming in to the Troop as well as going out. I
assisted in maintaining the budget for troop trips and expenditures.
Being a Girl Scout has also taught me to give back to the community. Troop
175 has been a proud Volunteer helping with the Salvation Army during the
Holidays (Christmas) and America's Walk for Diabetes. Both organizations
serve the community by giving to those in need of assistance. I have
assisted the Salvation Army by organizing our Troop to assemble food boxes,
packaging, and preparing the boxes for distribution. I have assisted
Americas Walk for Diabetes by helping the organization set up the serving
site, serving the participants for the event breakfast and lunch, and being
an active participant of the event.
