Relevant Work Experience
University of Colorado at Boulder, Boulder CO 8/2007 - 8/2009
Graduate Research Assistant
- Research-Water Quality. Performed laboratory research on a point-of-use
ceramic water filter used in developing communities funded by National
Science Foundation (NSF); Collected and analyzed research data.
Performed literature reviews.
- Project-Remediation. Developed in Situ Treatment Technologies for N-
nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in Collaboration with Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and US Air Force on a Colorado NPL
site. Evaluated remediation technologies like in situ chemical oxidation
and in situ Biodegradation on NDMA destruction in groundwater.
- Lab Manager. Ordered supplies and filled out appropriate paper work for
laboratory group. Mentored and organize activities for visiting
students participating in the Research Experience for Undergraduates.
Acenso Management and Consulting group, PWD, Delhi 5/2003 - 6/2006
Staff Engineer
- Remediation of Kolar Gold mining fields. Involved in remediation of
past gold mining activities in Kolar fields. Design of Best management
practices like Diversion Ditches, Erosion control by degrading, capping
and vegetation, Aeration and settling ponds for mine waste rock piles.
- Arsenic Remediation project. Conducted Phase I and Phase II assessment
on Arsenic contaminated groundwater. Involved in development of In situ
groundwater remediation using MRCs (Metals Remediation Compounds) of
arsenic for potable purposes in collaboration with Queen's University,
Belfast, Ireland.
- Water Quality Modeling. Evaluated the river water ecological parameters
of the Cauvery River using STREADO (Stream Reach Dissolved Oxygen)
computer code. Ecologically important parameters like Dissolved oxygen,
Biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand were analyzed
and results were compared with standard permissible limits. Writing
technical reports summarizing results.
"Working with Subha was every manager's dream Quite frankly, my
only disappointment in Subha was that I could not convince her to
continue in our organization in lieu of going on to graduate school."
- Purush S. Sharma, Environmental Operations Manager, AMC Group, Delhi
Larsen & Toubro Constructions, Chennai, India 6/2000 - 2/2003
Design Engineer
- Design. Layout, design and production of site plans and preliminary
drawings using AutoCAD for commercial and residential projects.
- Site visit. Coordinate field activities with design changes and
internal scheduling, prepared daily construction logs for ongoing
projects.
Anna University, Division of Urban Engineering, Chennai, India
7/1998 - 3/2000
Research Assistant
- Research. Developed Decision support system for pavement management
using GIS (ArcInfo). Created pavement attribute database using GIS for
radial roads. Using AASHTO road test model, Present Serviceability
Index (PSI) was calculated. Programmed maintenance and rehabilitation
strategies of pavement with Simple Query Language (SQL).
- Transportation modeling. Involved in traffic volume study in Chennai
metro, mathematical and computer simulation models (Four Step model)
were used to forecast the effects of different road improvements.
Volunteer Experiences
Sulabh International Social Service Organization (NGO), Chennai, India
