Work Experience
Technical Manager / Architect
2/2009 - Present Epsilon, Irving, TX
Currently I am managing a team of six Software Developers
working on a Capital One Rewards Web Redesign project:
https://nohasslerewards.capitalone.com. Phase 1 of the
project was successfully delivered and we're continuing
working on Phase 2. In addition to team management I am
also responsible for overall system architecture,
evaluation of new technologies (Visual Studio 2010, etc),
inter-department coordination, load and performance
testing, resolutions of issues with vendors (Microsoft,
Oracle, etc), communications with client's technical
personnel, etc.
Under my supervision our geographically distributed team
developed and released a marketplace solution for two
clients: American Express and Delta Airlines. The URL to
the marketplace: http://marketplace.delta.com. My
responsibilities on this project included talent selection
and mentoring, technical architecture, third-party
integration, company standards and best practices
compliance, middle-tier and database design and
development, build and deployment coordination, QA
coordination, security model evaluation and implementation,
dev/uat/prod environments management, team management, etc.
The project was completed under a very tight deadline and
delivered one week ahead of schedule with highest quality
and with total client satisfaction. Keywords: .NET 3.5, 4.0
(ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET), Oracle, SQL Server, MSMQ, WCF, SOA,
TDD.
Sr. Consultant
7/2007 - 12/2008 Federal Reserve, Washington, DC
As an independent IT consultant I worked on re-designing
and re-developing of the legacy software that the Board
uses to collect and analyze financial data from all
districts. The new web-based n-tier distributed application
is developed using .NET, SQL Server and SharePoint to
replace client-server software that is currently in use. In
cooperation with the Board's staff I worked on requirements
analysis, new software design and development. I was also
responsible for coaching the Board's developers on modern
technologies.
Sr. Software Architect
8/2006 - 8/2008 Preferred Voice, Dallas, TX
I re-designed the Mobile Phone Services Suite product using
Service-oriented architecture (SOA). The new product
exposes its functionality in a form of Web Services,
allowing clients to use these Services in their products
independently from Preferred Voice's Web portal. Special
attention was paid to ensure secure transmission of all
user data between applications, using encryption, caller
authentication and other security features of the .NET
Framework;
I designed the core architecture for the Content Delivery
Platform (CDP) - the new prospective product the company is
going to offer to its customers. My responsibilities
included requirements gathering from the industry experts
and prototyping. CDP is positioned as generic platform for
mobile content delivery of any kind, whether it is simple
pictures, applications or streaming video and live TV.
Based on service-oriented architecture design will
accommodate for different telecom hardware and software
platforms, various types of content and devices and will
provide for easy performance scalability and high service
availability;
I was leading development and ongoing support of the
flagship product of our company: Mobile Phone Services
Suite. My major responsibility was the customizable WEB
portal that is used as end-user interface to the system
where subscribers can choose services and options they need
and pay for them. The portal is developed using Microsoft
technologies (ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, SQL Server, Web
Services) and agile development methodology. Due to its
component design it can be easily branded to match customer
website's design. Designed with international application
support in mind, the ports can be easily translated into
almost any language with no extra coding required. And also
there is a WAP version of the portal that allows customers
to access the portal's most essential functionality from
their mobile phones.
Sr. Software Developer / Architect
2/2003 - 8/2006 Epsilon, Irving, TX
I created an email application that is used by several
internal and external clients to send emails. The
application consists of two major parts. Each one of them
is designed as a group of loosely-coupled components which
communicate between each other using Web Services (SOA).
One part handles actual email communications and includes
two multi-threaded Windows Services, SMTP and POP3 servers,
backend Oracle database, administration GUI and several
auxiliary Web pages. The other part is responsible for
design and generation of email contents and includes a
sophisticated Web-based GUI (with Email Editor, Scheduler,
Campaign Manager, etc), multi-threaded XML/XSL
transformation components and backend database. All the
components work on a dedicated farm of load-balanced Web
servers. All communications between the components occur
via Web Services. The application brought to my company
additional $1.6M worth of email business in the first year
only;
Under my supervision a team of developers ported the
existing middle-tier framework (which was COM-based,
written in VB6) to .NET platform. I designed base class
hierarchy, formalized conversion methodology and
established general technical guidelines to be followed by
the members of the Conversion team. I also participated
extensively in coding, testing and deployment of the new
framework.
