O wner/Photographer & Ma rketing Manager – N icole Grady Photography
2001-2005
I began my own photography business in 2001 and ran it independently
a nd successfully for 5 years. My prima ry markets were in the construction
a nd sports industries. As with any self-r un, small business, I was in charge
of everything from the actual photography process to ta rget-marketing,
c reation of p rint and internet-based marketing collateral, acquisition of
p hotography equipment, billing clients, t racking expenses, managing the
company budget, etc. I was able to utilize my marketing skills from
p revious employment as well as my university education to communicate
c learly and professionally w ith clients and potential clients via telephone,
e mail and mail. I n addition, having a fi rm foundation in advertising and
p ublic relations enabled my business to succeed and grow over the years.
Ma rketing Coordinator – Snyder Langston 1999-2001
I n this role, my p rima ry responsibility was to assist the VP of Ma rketing in
capitalizing on prospective business opportunities. To this end, I assisted
i n the creation and distribution of marketing collateral, including videos,
staff resumes, and qualifications and proposal literatu re. I n addition, I
collaborated with our I T staff in keeping the company website fresh;
i nitiated and created a 4-page, color newsletter that was pr inted as well as
d istr ibuted on the web for both inte rnal and external PR; commissioned
p hotographers for completion photographs of va rious projects for use in
n ewsletters, advertisements, press releases and videos; visited
construction sites regularly to photograph progress and events; worked
c losely with an external PR agency to create and distribute press releases
a nd monitor placement in the media for quality of coverage and damage
control; and took the lead in coordinating special events such as the
company’s 40th A nniversary, annual meetings, and construction site events.
Owner/Photographer & Ma rketing Manager – Natu ral Focus, I nc. 1993-
1999
I n my fi rst attempt to start and r un my own photography business while
being a stay-at-home mother with young children, I successfully
p hotographed, marketed and sold nature photography in the Pacific
N orthwest. My previous employment and education provided me w ith the
n ecessary skills in marketing, public relations and advertising to make
t his small business a success.
Account Executive – Bistolas Associates, I nc. 1993-1994
At Bistolas Associates, I managed Public Relations accounts from
beginning to end which involved but was not limited to client inte rviews;
m arket research; press release and a rticle creation; coordination of
p hotography; editorial relations; media monitor ing; and follow-up with
c lients.
M a rketing Manager & P roduct Manager – Strata, I nc. 1992-1993
As Ma r keting Manager for Strata, I nc., I developed and maintained
excellent relations w ith inte rnal staff, resellers in the U.S. and abroad,
e ditors of t rade magazines and customers. Soon after my initial
e mployment, I became interested in bringing life to a product called “3D
T ype” that had been shelved. I was offered the opportunity to market it
a nd “3D Type” became the #1 selling product in both quantity and
m oneta rily even though it was the least expensive of the company’s
p roduct line. I was also given the honor of having organized the best-ever
t radeshow the company had ever attended.
D i rector of PR, Advertising & Ma rketing – Accommodation Station 1992
I was initially brought in to take over where another had left off at this
condominium and home rental service at a ski resort. However, it was
obvious that the company needed some major changes as the homeowners
w ere disgruntled and the number of rentals was very low. So soon after
beginning my employment, I was given the opportunity to recreate the
i mage of the Accommodation Station. I created a new logo, replacing a
very out-dated 1970’s look. The new look was used on all marketing
collateral from letterhead, to advertisements, to banners, etc. to create
continuity and present a clean image to renters. I developed a PR
campaign which included things like new rental agreement forms, “condo”
v isits from our employees, Fi re Authority checks, etc. which brought
confidence back to condominium owners. I n addition, I restructured
i nternal operations which lead to increased employee morale thus
i ncreased productivity.
N ewspaper Reporter & Photographer – The Daily Spectrum 1991-1992
My fi rst “real” job! I conducted inte rviews with a w ide va riety of people,
e ngaged in research, and w itnessed events in order to gather information
a nd w r i te unbiased a rticles for this local newspaper; Articles included
b reaking news as well as human-interest stories. I took all of the
p hotographs that ran w ith my stories. I n addition, I w rote a once a week
e ditorial. I was told I took over seamlessly after my predecessor even
t hough I was enrolled full-time and completing my final year in college.
