Dear Human Resources Manager,
My name is Loren Crawford and I am a recent graduate of Emory
University, where I earned a B.A. in Psychology. I am writing to express
strong interest in the currently available position of vet receptionist.
Upon reviewing your job posting I am confident that I possess both the
ability and motivation to make a lasting contribution to your business. In
the past four years I have acquired several key skills that, I believe,
will be useful for the position of receptionist. For nearly two years I
worked as a gym assistant at Oxford College's William Gymnasium; my
position required me to answer phone calls and assist with gym activities,
such as basketball game set up. This experience helped me to develop a
sense of how an office operates and facilitated the development of stronger
communication skills. Most notably, as an undergraduate fellow of the
Community Building and Social Change Fellowship at Emory my team and I
conducted research in a metro-Atlanta neighborhood investigating underlying
issues within a low-income neighborhood by conducting numerous focus groups
and interviews. This data, alongside secondary research I collected, helped
my team and I create a document of recommendations to improve the
trajectory of the neighborhood. Through this experience I learned to
effectively work and communicate with diverse people, and it also gave me
valuable experience working with private, public, and community groups.
Finally, this past summer I worked at the Marcus Jewish Community Center as
both camp counselor and assistant unit head. As a counselor, I supervised
young children and facilitated camp activities, which require not only
flexibility and patience, but also the ability to independently problem-
solve and think quickly. I am a dependable, detail-oriented, and
enthusiastic person, prepared to work hard and take on new challenges. I
work well independently, but I am also adept at working in groups of people
with various backgrounds and skills.
To provide you with further details of my qualifications, I have
enclosed a resume for your review. I sincerely believe that I can make a
positive contribution to your business and look forward to discussing my
qualifications in more detail in person. I am available for a personal
interview at your earliest convenience and may be reached at 706-***-****.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to making your acquaintance.
Respectfully yours,
Loren Crawford
