PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Alliance Bernstein - Vice President, PMO Director
2006 - Current
PMO Director responsible to the head of Global Enterprise Technical
Services (GETS) for project/portfolio quality assurance, provision of
senior management monitoring, reporting and auditing for the bank's $75m
global infrastructure project portfolio.
Some Major Features and Accomplishments from this Role:
Built and implemented a PMO to manage a $75mm + portfolio of projects where
none previously existed;
Built and delivered a comprehensive C level program/portfolio management
reporting structure including dashboards, resource utilization reports and
demand management rosters;
Designed and implemented a complete suite of project/program management
processes supported by documentation and training.
Designed and implemented a project governance process for all GETS
initiatives including integration of SOX/SAS compliance auditing;
Acted as the central point of communication and escalation for management
on portfolio and project level issues. Coordinated all reporting ensuring
quality and uniformity;
Initiated development of a comprehensive strategic roadmap for GETS and
integrated this into the project governance process;
Managed the existing portfolio of projects to GREEN status within 6 months;
Provided oversight, guidance and mentorship to GETS Project Managers
globally;
Personally managed a mission critical datacenter move (no qualified
candidates available) to successful completion for which I won the 2009
REACH Award.
Personally managed the replacement of the global trouble ticketing system
and the implementation of new service desk practices to support the
implementation.
Recently acquired the role of PMO Director reporting to the global Head of
Information Risk Management. Responsible for the provision of senior
management monitoring, reporting, auditing and quality assurance for the
bank's Information Security and Risk division. This multi-year program of
work comprises over 70 high visibility globally impacting projects to
eliminate improper access to business systems and information
(entitlements), to eliminate franchise threatening policy violations and to
manage outstanding compliance management issues, including entitlements
policy, procedures and implementation.
The Bank of NY - Vice President, PMO Director 2004 - 2006
PMO Director heading a group of 5 Senior PMO officers. Responsible to the
CIO for provision of senior management monitoring, reporting, auditing and
quality assurance for the bank's $50m outsourcing project portfolio.
Successfully built and implemented a suite of repeatable and sustainable
program/project management procedures supported by full documentation,
support and training. Successfully rescued an $18mm project that had been
stalled for 6 months. Built and implemented special monitoring and
reporting to ensure that early warning was available to the executives so
that similar situations could not arise.
JP Morgan Chase - Vice President, STIM 2003 - 2004
Senior Technology Infrastructure Manager (STIM) for Global Treasury
reporting to the global CIO of Treasury, responsible for liaison between
the line of business and global technology.
Successfully managed the global XP upgrade and combined comprehensive
hardware refresh and upgrade of all mission critical software. I
represented Global Treasury in the transition of all technology services
from IBM back to in-sourced JPM services.
Deutsche Bank - Vice President, Senior PMO Architect
2002 - 2003
Reporting to the CIO of the Global Asset Management division successfully
designed and implemented a fully functional PMO, including the creation of
fully documented policies and procedures. Designed and implemented a
comprehensive, repeatable and sustainable project portfolio management
process to govern all IT projects.
Managed an application development and business analyst team to implement a
global asset management environment based on Peregrine AssetCenter 4.2.
Rescued this project, which had been unsuccessful for over 18 months.
Managed an application development team to migrate in excess of 200 mission
critical trading and asset management applications (15 major hubs spanning
North America and the Pacific Rim) from Novell Netware to a new Deutsche
Bank NT-Server environment and coupled this with a datacenter consolidation
program.
Morgan Stanley - Vice President, Senior Project Manager 1991 - 2002
Managed a multi-discipline team responsible for redesign and rebuild 36
mission critical desktop market data systems in preparation for a 5000-
person move to new headquarters. Worked closely with the heads of Equity
and Fixed Income trading to optimize the market data environment and
coordinate the migrations/implementations with trading system upgrades and
market events. Managed the design, build and implementation of a state of
the art market data campus environment incorporating fully hardened
BCP/disaster recovery campus functionality.
Managed a multi-discipline team to redesign and replace 30 market data and
Internet firewalls worldwide. Leveraged this project to clean up network
infrastructure by eliminating redundant routes, ACL's,
entitlements/permissions, etc., liaised closely with the heads Equity and
Fixed Income trading to deliver all firewalls into a live trading
environment on time, within budget and with no interruption to service.
Managed a development team to design and implement a new market data
entitlements layer complying with exchange and vendor distribution rules.
Managed efforts between Market Data Security and Application Developers and
Equity and Fixed Income Trading heads to get 200+ trading applications re-
coded, re-linked and redistributed. Managed the implementation of new
entitlements layers including policy and procedure into a live Equity and
Fixed Income trading environment on time, within budget and with no service
interruptions.
Co-managed delivery of data centers, trading floors and supporting
technology for the new global headquarters at 1585 Broadway and 750 Seventh
Avenue NY. Client's representative responsible for project monitoring and
reporting, overseeing designs, construction, testing and commissioning of
the technology environment.
Managed new office openings including trading floor and datacenter builds
in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Mumbai. This role
included site selection, vendor selection, project management, move
management and client representation.
