EXPERIENCE:
Owner/President/Chief Operations Officer of 2 Major Construction Companies:
1976 to 2002.
. Located in South Florida and responsible for all facets managing the
business and all phases of construction, development, re-development,
and project management.
. Financial officer responsible for establishing banking line of credit,
preserving banking relationships and overseeing the general
administrative budgets and ongoing Construction Project budgets over
one-hundred million dollars.
. Responsible for accounts receivable, payable, purchase orders, monitor
expenditures, customized software for bidding, payroll, health
insurance, signatory for checks, bank lines of credit, bonding,
company selection and financial reports, accounting and audited
statements.
. Employed office staff of 18 direct reports with field staff up to 90
employees plus additional subcontractor field personnel.
. Managed the maintenance contracts and projects for commercial stores
for apartment complex and warranty work.
. Extensive experience in general contracting construction management
within the business dealing with owners, project estimate, architects,
contract documents, CPM schedules, design build projects, lump sum
contracts, municipalities and subcontractors. Participated in
selection projects to bid, contract bidding and subcontract
negotiations.
. Experienced in a range of Commercial/Residential, Hospital, Federal
and Industrial Construction.
. Negotiated with carpenters union and mechanics union and maintained a
working relationship in a non-union State.
. Responsible for dealing with various state and federal governmental
agencies and coordinating with owners, architects and governmental
planners from conception of projects to completion.
. Litigation experience with construction litigation and arbitration,
hired as a construction expert by law firm for expert opinion on
business damages, CPM schedules and construction means and methods.
Major Projects:
. Florida Power and Light; Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant, constructed
industrial warehouse with equipment storage facilities, office
facilities for staff. Constructed and updated electrical substations
project as required. Constructed South Dade Emergency Center Warehouse
and facilities.
. Constructed in the Florida Power and Light Corporate Headquarters a
wellness and exercises center. Federal Government; Constructed the
Sunset Regional Post Office.
. Anheuser Busch; Constructed refrigerated industrial warehouse
facilities and offices.
. The Archdioceses of Miami; constructed and maintanaced over the years
20 million dollars in churches, schools, halls, apartment complexes
for the elderly and historical renovations including artistic
renovations in vaulted ceilings for the Cathedral. Other church
organizations; Constructed Riverside Baptist Church and Sunset Church
of Christ and school facilities.
. Medical Centers; we have constructed the North Miami Health Care
Center, Medical Arts Building including medical facilities and doctors
offices.
. Metro-Dade County; constructed the Power Distribution Buildings for
the Metro Rail System in Miami, Florida.
. Constructed a Neighborhood Medical Service Center with medical
facilities including operation and x-ray rooms.
. City of Miami; Constructed a 30 acre Miami River Redevelopment Project
with pools, multiple use buildings, baseball fields, basketball
courts, paddle ball courts, seawall, rip-rap, basin construction,
landscaping, irrigation and miles of sidewalks and trails.
. For other private clients constructed banks, shopping centers, high
rise apartment buildings and custom homes.
Kentucky Legislature: (2002-Present) Legislative work
. Involved with the Kentucky legislature in passing laws affecting the
agricultural industry. Worked directly with hired lobbyist to change
laws in State Legislature.
. Successfully negotiated new laws and regulations in hotly contested
issues with the Kentucky Senate, House of Representatives, the Kentucky
Agriculture Department and the Fish and Wildlife Department that
directly affect the agricultural industry and the sportsmen industry.
Coordinated and work as a team with the Agricultural Industry, Kentucky
Farm Bureau Federation, the Sportsman Industry and the State
Legislature.
. Governor's Office: Worked with Agricultural Policy to develop state
funding and help develop a cervid livestock pilot program for funding
farmers.
. Member of the Governor's Task Force on the future of Kentucky
agriculture.
Owner and Business Manager: Buckheaven Ranch / Buckheaven Farm (2002 to
Present)
. Managed and developed over 1000 acres of Kentucky property for timber,
livestock and general agriculture.
. Own, develop and sells commercial investment real estate property in
Kentucky.
