SELECTED PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
> Increased production by 4 days per month at 300 tons per day, which
equals 1,200 tons per month at additional gross revenue of $240,000
per month ($2.8M annually).
> Devised a ramp from one building to the other and rolled 40,000 lb.
coils into the building. This allowed us to continue to cut the
customer orders and meet on-time delivery. Eliminated costs of $10K -
$15K a day due to down time.
> Generated $180,000 in new product revenue per day that went to the
bottom line by taking a waste and turning it into a product that could
be sold.
> There were three plants that I was responsible for- one in the U.S.
and two in Europe. After visiting the European plants several times,
we developed the scheduling techniques of the European plants as well
as the unloading practices. The scheduling practices eliminated all
vacation time, which allowed us to eliminate one crew at a savings of
$250,000 annually. The unloading practices saved us detention time
with the railroad equaling $20,000 per month.
> Responsible for getting costs as low as possible and production output
as high as possible at all three plants - one in the U.S. and two in
Europe. By providing the leadership, we worked together to exchange
and install the best ideas at all three plants.
> Worked with the purchasing of raw materials to lower the price of
copper. The savings was $200,000 per month.
> Increased production from 7,000 tons to 10,000 tons per month. For
every 100 tons of increased production, we increased revenue by $2
million dollars per month.
> By strengthening the leveling rolls and the shear on the 3/8" shear
line we were able to open up the hot roll plate market to the St.
Louis sales office. In the sheet and plate market the " plate is the
most profitable.
> Railroad detention and damage was running at $30,000 to $50,000 per
month. We eliminated the contractor and did the repair and hauling
internally. Brought the cost down to $3,000 to $5,000 per month, with
a bottom line addition of $45,000 per month.
> Was losing copper between the receiving department and the foundry.
Worked with the plant manager and the receiving department and stopped
the losses by implementing new grading and testing procedures.
> Eliminated the union. This took several months of meetings to
negotiate the terms to do away with the union. This amounted to
savings of $100,000 per month.
> Served on a a cost savings committee for the entire division. We not
only accepted ideas but also implemented them and had a $350,000 to
$450,000 per month in cost savings for the division.
> We were paying a large amount of money every month for attorney's to
negotiate with the EPA and IEPA. Took on the task of negotiating all
settlements and plans of action with the two agencies and we
eliminated the need for the attorney's. This resulted in a savings of
$5M annually.
