Research and Development Team Leader, Electronic Materials Division

Team leader for multi-disciplinary research team focused on materials and

optical components for the Display industry. Set research direction,

managed $2.2M R&D budget, reported research performance metrics to upper

management, collaborated with customers and external technology partners,

managed project scheduling, managed phase and gate process for product

development, conducted regular performance reviews and developed personnel.

. Invented / Authored 182 issued U.S. patents and 61 pending patent

applications. Most prolific inventor in the history of Eastman Kodak.

Currently 132nd in the world for total number of U.S. patents.

. Led 14 person multi-disciplinary research team which included PhD

optical components widely used in current versions of popular slim LED

media, thermal dye sublimation printing, light emitting diodes, micro-

fabrication and nano-materials. Team leader for several joint development

projects, managed complex project schedules, adjusted resource utilization,

filed patent applications, published internal technical reports and led

market feasibility studies.

Materials $250M optical component portfolio.

include the award winning Kodak DuraLife Photographic paper, Kodak Color

Metallic paper and Kodak Day / Night Display media.

. Led team on digital label printing project that integrated hardware,

Label printing system enabled mass customization of text, images and meta-

data content of pressure sensitive consumer labels.

. Managed technology on several joint R&D projects that leveraged

products. Developed high speed lamination process for polymer thin films

using novel polymer blends, developed method to control curl of

photographic paper, formulated anti-static coatings used on printing media,

methods and fixtures for manufacturing quality assessment.

Manufacturing Engineer, Photographic Paper Flow 1991 - 1994

Responsible for yield, product quality and product costs for Kodak Color

and Black and White paper products. Provided daily manufacturing

performance updates to management. Extensive manufacturing experience in

the areas of web converting, coating, injection and extrusion molding, thin

film manufacturing, polymer optical lenses, assembly of complex electro-

mechanical systems, photo-resist and micro-replication.

. Managed the design and installation of a $15M capital asset, led a

quality improvement team leading to ISO 9001 certification

. Coordinated annual operating plans for a $75M / 275 person manufacturing

operation and reduced cost of manufacture by 43% on a $7.2M product bill
