Fire Chief
Plan, organize, and direct related to emergency medical service fire
suppression and prevention. Responsible for administration, supervision,
and operation of emergency medical service division. Develop and execute
$1.8 million budget. Spearhead the planning, coordination, and delivery of
cutting-edge department training programs. Ensure compliance with governing
standards. Review blueprints and
and building plans for automatic fire-protection systems. Perform fire
scene investigations coordinate arson investigation with state and local
officials. Manage the department information technology infrastructure and
communications system (media/public/police). Continually evaluate and
enhance departmental performance and efficiency. Analyze data and benchmark
data against accepted norms and
internal/external organizations. Work in harmony with directives from the
mayor.
Perform pre-employment background investigations- active in recruiting
processes and individual/group
development. Develop and implement/group/objective and customer-service
program. Review, update,
and/or modify standard operating procedures set by governing agencies as

maintaining the City's State Rating Bureau fire insurance rating-review

Recommend methods procedures for maintaining or lowering the city
rating. Review and recommend city codes and ordinances related to fire
prevention to ensure compliance
with federal, state, and local regulations as well as locally accepted fire-
prevention practices.
> Enhanced the community's emergency medical service (EMT'S) from
nothing
> Computerized and automated the city's incident-reporting and
dispatch system. Team leader managing the change from a paper based
incident-reporting system to a computerized multiuser incident-
reporting and dispatch system.

> Managed and directed transformation from the department's antiquated
radio system to the current state-of -the -art communication system.
> Developed city's current fire code and current fire prevention code-
providing for reasonable
requirements that take into account the city's limited financial
position and available resources for fire-fighting operations.
> Spearheaded the planning/implementation of the department's efforts
to lower the fire rating
class, thereby reducing casualty insurance premiums for residents
and business.
> Developed a comprehensive infection-control plan adhere to state and
federal requirements

> Prepare annual budget-$1.8 million. Reengineered the department's
budgetary process by
implementing spreadsheet technology. Established templates have been
adopted by other departments to achieve similar gains in efficiency.

contracts with Southaven Fire and Tupelo Fire Departments and
Northeast Community
College.
