Dear Sirs
RE: Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant
I am writing to express my interest in the Litigation Secretary position
you have recently advertised.
I have 10+ years experience in working in a legal office and, whilst the
majority of my secretarial experience lies in Personal Injury law
(Plaintiff), I have also gained secretarial experience in Criminal,
Employment and Medical Negligence law.
I am currently employed by Russell Jones & Walker Solicitors, a nationwide
law firm in the UK, and I have been an employee of Russell Jones & Walker
in Sheffield for just over 10 years.
I joined the firm from the inception of the Employment Law department and
the structure of the department required me to work primarily for the sole
employment law solicitor. However, during the establishment of the
department, whilst workloads were increasing, there was a need for me to be
flexible and provide assistance to other executives to ensure that all
secretarial and administrative work required within other departments were
promptly and efficiently carried out.
Due to the personal relocation of the Employment Law solicitor, and the
subsequent closure of the Employment Law department in the Sheffield
office, I was immediately offered a permanent position in the Criminal Law
department, working alongside the existing secretary, for a senior Partner
and his assistant solicitor. However, due to the demise of the Criminal
Law Department in the Sheffield office, which was relocated north of the
country, I was again immediately offered a position in the Medical
Negligence department, again working for a senior partner. Following the
relocation of the Medical Negligence department south of the country, I was
offered a position working in the Personal Injury department, where I have
continued to work for approximately 7 years and I am now the PA to a senior
partner.
I am extremely flexible in my attitude and approach to work, and adapt to
change with ease. My wealth of experience has taught me the value of, and
cultivated the ability to build strong and effective working relationships
within all departments of an organisation. My social skills and
flexibility enable me to work as an effective, supportive, and responsible
member of a team; but I also have the maturity and confidence to work
independently with little or no direction if required. I am extremely
reliable and loyal.
I currently reside and work in the UK. However, I took a 6-month
sabbatical last year, from July - December, to travel to the US and I spent
the majority of that time in the Sacramento area. I thoroughly enjoyed my
experience and I am now back in Folsom for 10 weeks visiting my sister who
lives here permanently. After much and very careful consideration, I now
know I also would like to live and work permanently in North California. I
understand, however, that to do so would require sponsorship from a
potential employer.
Despite my limited experience in US or Californian state law, I am fully
confident that my personal attributes/technical qualities, which include
ingenuity, insight, adaptability, pride, willingness to learn and succeed
and common sense; protocol including integrity, accountability,
appropriateness, and a strong, flexible and honest work ethic make me an
ideal candidate for the post.
I enclose a copy of my resume for your perusal, detailing my academic
qualifications and practical experience.
I would very much appreciate it if you would consider me for the post you
are advertising and also if you are able to offer me the appropriate
sponsorship (which I would be prepared to fund).
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss any detail of my application
with you and I can be contacted on
1-916-***-****. Alternatively, my email address is
ablo5p@r.postjobfree.com. I can also make myself available for interview
at any time.
Thank you for taking your time to review my resume and letter of
application and I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours sincerely
Rachel Moore
