I have over 20 years of experience in the criminal justice system. My

experience includes administration of various community based corrections

facilities, adult prison and juvenile parole offices. I also have over

five years of adjunct faculty experience teaching online criminal justice

courses. I possess a Masters Degree in Public Administration and am

currently A.B.D. status in the Ph.D. in Education program at the

University of Toledo.

EMPLOYMENT

Compliance Reviewer: June 2008-Present

NAKAMOTO GROUP

Responsibilities:

Monitor and report on compliance for various juvenile and adult

correctional facilities holding foreign detainees. Perform inspections of

all areas of operations to monitor compliance with National Immigration

and Custom Enforcement Detention Standards. Provide monthly reports on

compliance and provide technical assistance and train facility staff.

Accreditation Manager

OHIO DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION AND CORRECTIONS/TOLEDO CORRECTIONAL

INSTITUTION: October 2005-June 2008

Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance for all operations of an 1100 bed prison, including

personnel and human resources areas. Reviewed, revised and wrote various

local personnel policies. Member of the institution EEO committee. Perform

inspections and report on non-compliant activity. Coordinate compliance

activities with all department heads. Perform duties as second-back up for

Institution Public Information Officer. Perform staff training duties in

areas of accreditation, discrimination and harassment, EEO, policies and

procedures, cultural diversity and management of a multi-generational

workforce. Perform auditor functions for other state institutions. Serve

as auditor for the American Correctional Association for Adult

Correctional Institutions, as well as Adult Community Residential

Programs. These audits include monitoring of personnel records, EEO

compliance, staff evaluations and hiring practices.

Responsibilities:

Oversee 21 county parole office and supervise 21 staff. Perform various

human resource duties such as reviewing and scoring applications,

certification lists, interviewing, hiring, staff investigations,

discipline and exit interviews and paperwork. Oversight of payroll process

and performing some payroll activities in Kronos system. Participated in

downsizing planning and eventual lay-offs of staff. Administer budget and

community contracts. Staff training. Attend administrative state level

meetings and serve on various local community committees. Ensure

compliance with American Correctional Association standards and

documentation for re-accreditation.

OHIO LINK CORRECTIONS AND TREATMENT: July 1999-August 2001

Responsibilities:

Overseeing establishment and operations of new Halfway House facility.

Management of all staff and budget operations. Perform human resources

functions such as payroll for all staff, managing overtime and personnel

budget, interviewing and hiring of all staff, discipline and termination

of employment. Maintaining Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and

Corrections, Bureau of Prisons and local compliance with standards. Public

Wrote and implemented policies and procedures to ensure Ohio Department of

Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services certification and American

Correctional Association accreditation.

1997-December 1997

Responsibilities:

Oversee operations of a 94 bed community based correctional facility.

Management and supervision of 60 staff. Perform human resource functions

such as interviewing and hiring, oversee payroll operations, manage

overtime and personnel budget, employee discipline and employment

termination activities. Complete EEO and Civil Rights packets, participate

in mediation hearings and represent the agency at unemployment hearings.

Oversight of employee benefits. Negotiated new benefits package for staff.

Create and implement agency policy and procedure. Gain and maintain

appropriate accreditations and state standards. Monitor overall intense

treatment programming. Administer a 2.3 million dollar budget. Evaluation,

grant writing and research.

LUCAS COUNTY CORRECTIONAL TREATMENT FACILITY: August 1996-February1997

Responsibilities:

Oversee operations and management of a 110 bed community based

correctional facility. Management and supervision of 53 staff, including

corrections officers and various professional staff. Complete yearly

evaluations and monitor overall evaluation process. Interview and hire

staff, oversee payroll, monitor overtime costs, perform investigations and

staff discipline activities. Monitor overall facility security. Create and

implement policy, procedures and treatment programming. Administration of

a 2.6 million dollar budget. Evaluation, research and planning.

1994-August 1996

Responsibilities:

Coordination, planning and supervision of all treatment program

activities. Review applications, interview and hire all casemanagers and

other treatment staff. Perform probationary and yearly staff evaluations.

Investigate and discipline staff as needed. Assist with program

statistics. Serve as Director in absence of Executive Director. Develop
