EXPERIENCE
Sr. Software Engineer
Haas Automation, Oxnard CA
May 2001 - October 2008
Worked on embedded software for controlling CNC machines. Haas business
plan is to introduce new models of their machines every year to their
product line. During the time at Haas I was part of the software team that
supported this goal. During this time at Haas the sales of their CNC
machines tripled. My single most important accomplishment at Haas was my
work with the simulators. When I was first hired at Haas there was a mill
and a lathe simulator which only simulated basic machine function. I saw a
way to combine the mill and lathe simulators. After combining the two types
of simulators I made the simulation realistic. These enhancements lead to
engineers being able to do most of their development work at their desk
instead of waiting for test machines to be freed up. The new simulator
spread through out the company to sales, to tech support, and to training.
Later the new simulators were shipped to class rooms and to showroom floors
around the world. This was done to not only train but to promote sales.
While at Haas I was promoted from Programmer 2 to Programmer 3.
- Design, code (Assembly and C)
- Integrated and tested hardware and software
- Converted Motorola 68k assembly code to C

Principal Software Engineer
Harris Communication Products Division, Camarillo CA April 2000 -
May 2001
Developed embedded software for line test equipment for telecommunications.
Developed an interface to a number of different DSLAMS (Digital Subscriber
Line Access Multiplexer). Went on a number of business trips to promote
sales. My function was to get specifications from the customer and answer
technical questions. The most important trips were to the AT&T facility in
New Jersey. These trips lead to more sales of Harris equipment to AT&T.
- Design, code (Intel assembly and C)
- SPOX real-time OS
- System Test
Sr. Software Engineer
Cardkey (Now part of Johnson Controls), Simi Valley CA March 1999 -
April 2000
Developed and integrated software for Cardkey's Security Management system.
Worked on the embedded software that runs on the Cardkey's CK720 panel. The
CK720 panel software runs under QNX. Later worked on the host application
software, which runs

Sr. Software Engineer
Lumonics, Oxnard CA
February 1996 - October 1998
Developed Laser marking systems. Main responsibility was making
enhancements to the software. Wrote specifications for the larger projects
that I worked on. Also wrote the test plan/procedure for system test for
these projects. Made a number of business trips to customer sites to fix
tough field problems and was able to solve all of those field problems.
Became project leader for the TrayMaker. As project leader for the
TrayMaker met with Lumonics biggest customer Intel in order to get their
requirements for changes to the TrayMaker. Was successful in making
required changes to the TrayMaker this in turn lead to continuing sales of
the TrayMaker to Intel.

responsible for record sales for Rain Master. During of my time at Rain
Master, had total responsibility for software development, which includes:
- Developed central computer application with a Graphical User Interface
