Research interests primarily include four areas: Improvement in

Teacher Licensure Scores, Designing Effective On-line Courses for Teacher

Preparation, Incorporating Adventure Education in Mathematics Education,

and Field-Based Instruction for Pre-Service Teachers.

Grant projects include Teacher Enhancement in Mathematics & Science,

Excellence in Pre-Service Teacher Education Programs, Implementing Inquiry-

based Mathematics Education courses in K-16, and Bridging the Gap between

School & University Mathematics.

. 2009 - 2010 Fulbright Scholar (Rwanda). Research Grant: $34,960.

Research Project Title: "Curriculum Review and Improvement of

Pedagogy in Mathematics Teaching" Project Summary: Assist the Kigali

Institute of Education in achieving three goals: appropriate

mathematics curriculum for pre-service teachers, student-centered

methodology in teaching mathematics, and teacher training in effective

pedagogy.

. Part of the Tidewater Team to Improve Middle School Mathematics, A

Mathematics & Science Partnership Grant with: William & Mary -

Virginia State - Hampton - Old Dominion. Taught Algebra & Functions

a proposal for funding to participate in a professional development

activity sponsored by West Point Academy (with Dr. Adeymi & Dr.

Burton), Spring 2006.

. Participated in a $1,999,645.00 Department of Defense (DOD) funded

project, Assorted Learning Channels for Science, Mathematics, and

Engineering Students, to create online tutorials for college students

in mathematics, Spring 2005.

. Received a HEAF Fund Grant from West Texas A&M University for over

$8000.00 to redesign teacher preparation courses as more inquiry-

based, Fall 2001. Implemented in 2002.

. Received an Academy Fellowship Grant from the Texas A&M University

System Regents' Initiative for Excellence in Education for Technology

Based Instruction and course redesign. The grant was used to develop

an on-line course to enhance teacher training and to share information

electronically throughout the state. The course was first offered in

Fall, 2001. Academy Fellowship for Development of Distance Learning

Courses, Spring & Summer, 2001.

. WTAMU Faculty Development Grant for Summer 2000. Attending Project

Adventure's "Adventure in the Classroom" course was a result of this

grant.
