QUALIFICATIONS:
I have just returned from Peace Corps in Botswana working with the HIV/Aids pandemic. I worked at a
mother clinic performing secretarial duties such as updating their patient information and staff
information. I have also set up spreadsheets to help keep important monthly data.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
United States Peace Corps – Participated in HIV/Aids prevention
Mahalapye, Botswana April 2008-June 2010 (present)
Working as a Community Capacity Builder to help with the HIV/Aids epidemic
• Completed 2 months of intensive training in culture sensitivity, local language, starting from
grassroots, etc.
• Coordinated a group of local women for participation in the organization called Mothers 4 All.
The group participants made jewelry to help financially support orphans they’ve adopted. The
parents of these orphans died of Aids. For the participants, I facilitated their work, connected
them to the head of the organization, and marketed their product.
• Typed documents for Airstrip Clinic staff and input data.
• Taught staff members basic computer skills.
• Developed computer program in Microsoft Excel to organize the clinics monthly patient data for
the year end reports.
• Taught basic HIV/Aids education and setup activities for the students, ages 10-13, at a primary
school in the village.
• With other team members, planned and implemented community events for the Prevention of
Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) program.
• Designed invitation cards in Setswana and in English to promote male involvement in the
PMTCT program.
• Conceptualized, organized, and recruited a team of local Botswana talent to help paint World Map
and PMTCT motivational murals.
• Initiated a girl’s peer support group where the girls can openly talk about health issues and\or
personal problems while doing artwork.
• Worked closely with preschool staff to carry out student activities.
• Provided input in designing creative plans to increase the HIV testing rate.
• Integrated into the Botswana culture by living with the people and learning the local language
(Setswana).

• Planned and organized excursions with other houses for a large group of young adults with

• Oversaw personal finances for 3 women who were incapable of handling their money.
• Took courses to be certified in the distribution and charting of medicines.
