Cyclic Maintenance Program:
This Project managed very large-scale initiatives involving the transition
of programs to new platforms and the merger of disparate systems from
acquired client companies. It demands an immediate attention and addresses
the existing and future infrastructure requirements. Hence, a very close
coordination with business and application owners for Technical & Business
verification Testing was required to ensure the desired outcome is obtained
without much affect the business.
The program was given high level of visibility and attention as because the
Banking environments always stress on the need of having the latest
software, product versions, security patching, and bug fixes etc. running
on their infrastructure.
The intent of the whole program was to ensure that all these
projects/programs are executed professionally as IBM as an organization
never comprise on the work quality and regular audits help team understand
the loop holes and scope of improvements etc.
Effective cost management, scope, schedule, Cross functional team
management, team building, understanding diverse cultures were some of the
key factors in successfully delivering the each phase of project.
As a Program/Project Manager, I have work very closely with key
stakeholders, attending their steering committee meetings, negotiating
outages, resource management, agreement on schedule, working with change
management board etc. I do maintain the budget and track financials of
these projects. As per standards, all the labour cost/financials are logged
by every Friday and from reporting perspective to client, financial
reporting used to happen every Monday, to keep client posted on schedule,
cost and scope progress. Any deviation from the triple constraints used is
sorted out through PCR. I also participate in the Audit process of the
program wherein an external auditor evaluates if the project is going
through as per the project life cycle and implementing World Wide project
management method and techniques
- Infrastructure on Demand cyclic maintenance Program: Initiated, managed
and led the OS & subsystem security patching in the newly developed
Virtual environment called Infrastructure on Demand (IOD). Since this
quarterly project was happening for the first time on IOD,a very strong
planning with close monitoring was done in order to bring all the product
versions, software/security patches upto the agrees level of compliance.
In a nut shell the scope of the program was to keep upgrading approx.
5000 servers for software/security patches etc.
Results: Ensured a defect-free release and a compliant IOD environment
through careful planning, testing and QA efforts
- Legacy Cyclic Maintenance Program: Led, Managed and directed global
rollouts of new security patches, new software, upgrades for all type of
Operating systems (AIX, UNIX, Red hat, windows) and sub systems(Oracle,
SQL,DB2, web-sphere, backup) technologies across client's all business
units.
Results: Ensured smooth quarterly security patching program of their very
old and complex environment to an updated level so as to avoid any
vulnerabilities.
- Mainframe Tech Refresh & cyclic Maintenance Program: Led & Managed
mainframe Tech refresh Program for various business Units : Managed all
phases of software development lifecycle for dozens of custom software,
applications and solutions.
Results : Ensured defect-free releases through careful planning, testing
and QA efforts
- Oracle Database Refresh and cloning Project : Led design and
multinational rollout of robust, scalable and secure oracle db refresh &
cloning of oracle-Financial environments
