Dear Hiring Executive,
I am sending my resume to you for the position of Journeyman Manual
Machinist/Tool Maker & Designer.
My experience in this trade is over 25 years in job shops and large
companies using a large and diverse number of manual machine tools making
parts from simple fabrication drawings to complex and close tolerance
optical equipment. From small hand operated chuckers to large swing engine
lathes, from Bridgeport vertical milling machines to large horizontal
boring mills, from pedistol grinders to fine surface grinders or larger
ones with hydraulic controls, I have learned to set up, operate, and
produce good parts over these years. I have run radial drills, punch
presses, did tool and die making for press rooms, repaired die sets, and
invented methods to make difficult parts in some cases. My experience also
included running a one man research and development shop in a large
company, doing work directly with engineers, often with no drawings. I have
experience in the semiconductor capitol manufacturing business, factory
automation, produce preparation, the lock making business, aerospace, tire
balancing machines, steel shredders for reclamation, custom magnetics,
mining equipment, custom gas processing equipment, wine making equipment,
factory special machines for making golf clubs (Nike), special
architectural parts, silicon wafer handling equipment, test beds for
engineering projects, ultra high temperature furnaces in vacuum, process
vacuum and gas plumbing, custom frame weldments for equipment, machine tool
repair and replacement of lead screws, and did CAD design work for an 8
year break from machining. In other words, I have wisdom that a young
machinist has yet to learn, and with a strong body and mind, I am ready for
work.
