In this position I had full control and
responsibility for the monthly creation, publication
and distribution of all financial statements,
production reports and other specific reports for the
Board of Directors and Shareholders for an insurance
agency with gross revenues of 22 million dollars, 200
employees and 62 individual brokers or broker units.
The position reported to the Chief Operating Officer.
Duties and responsibilities included Asset
Management, Audits, Budgeting, Cash Management, Cash
Receipts and Disbursements, both internal and
external Financial Reports, General Ledger, Profit
Distribution and Allocation for a Sub Chapter S
Corporation, and all other related general accounting
functions as handled by an accounting staff of six
employees.
During my time in this position, I was also
responsible for,
. The implementation of a 401K Retirement Plan for
all Agency employees and all related "Affiliated
Services Groups". This included all compliance
issues, funding and year end reporting.
. The creation and implementation of a detailed
departmental and agency wide budgeting system for
both revenue and all expenses which included a
detailed reporting and explanation of all budget
variances to actual.
. The successful conversion of all accounting data
to an "Applied Management System" which included
the writing, training and the establishment of all
new accounting procedures for the Agency.
. The successful creation and implementation of a
detailed profit bonus system for employees,
managers, brokers and shareholders.
. The control and reduction of Accounts Receivable
over 60 days due to the implementation of interest
charges and other penalties back to the individual
broker units.
