JOB DUTIES: Great Southern Wood Preserving.
Work with very little supervision in the development of Human Resource
Department for 800( employees across 9 locations, coordinate closely
with Director of Human Resources in meeting the goals, Supervisors and
CEO's to develop consistent payroll, new hire, termination and
benefits plan for the company. employee orientation program, developed
a consistent process for handling employee files and employee related
information, archival of data, consolidated payroll from 5 different
people to 2 and continue to process payrolls, duties required to
complete a payroll conversion to new software, trained 3 co workers,
all taxes related to payroll (Fed, State, SUTA, FUTA), W-2s & year
end, payroll upgrade, maintain and pay the invoices for benefits, data
entry of new employee information into computer system, securing
missing information, traveled to plants to meet with supervisors and
employees, various counseling as needed on a per person basis, Safety
Education Committee (SEC) from creation of committee to completing
various projects, volunteered to scribed majority of minutes of SEC
(7/04=current), performed and reported on plant safety inspection.
JOB DUTIES: Cooper Lighting.
Work with very little supervision to enforce company rules for 400+
employees within the union contract between Cooper Lighting and Local
Union, coordinate with supervisors, company nurse and hourly employees
in reference to work schedule, vacations, leave of absences, and merit
increase as set forth in union contract, request pay corrections,
employee replacements, track job vacancies, post vacant jobs for 48
hours, compile list of bid prospects, notify the supervisor of
qualified candidates, make all system and department changes, Various
counseling as needed on a per person basis, notify employees of change
in work schedule, All aspects of hiring hourly employees
(interviewing, verifying background information & resume information,
arranging drug screening & employment physicals, matching jobs to
prospective employment candidates, orientation of new employees, data
entry of new employee information into computer system, securing
missing information, complete needed paperwork to terminate an
employee's employment (voluntary & involuntary), Coordinate with a
Temp agency to secure temporary employees to fill vacancies created
from leave of absence and miscellaneous positions as they arise, track
temporary employee time & submit weekly time & attendance report,
authorize early check releases, hand out pay checks, coordinate awards
& dinners, income and employment verification for outside agencies,
Coordinate weekly with uniform company, security system (assign badge
number, create badge, test badge), screen all incoming calls and
decide on the nature of the call and take appropriate action, work
with vending personnel, filing, burst report used for reference, work
with various organizations to raise money (United Way, American Cancer
