PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
CATERPILLAR, Lagrange, GA 2008-2009
Design Engineer - Forest Products Division
Worked with team of engineers designing new Tier 4 emission compliant
tracked forest machines
and log loaders. Contract position.
. Hydraulic system hose routing using Cat SDP-Fluid-Lines.
. Forest machine Stop-To-Fix assembly line responder, PIQ member, Plant CI
first responder.
. Functional skeleton assembly models of boom/stick/bucket motion. For GF
and LL.
. PRO/E Wildfire, HVC, REDI, DCC, Teamcenter
PILKINGTON, Toledo, OH 2000-2008
Tooling Design Engineer
Designed tooling for automotive glass bending plants (heated ceramic
windshield tooling, pressbend backwindows, sidelights, sunroofs) using
PRO/E Wildfire.
. Developed design assemblies comprised of non-related existing models to
produce a specific tooling model. Assemblies were used for other tooling
sets to reduce design cycle time.
. Creatively reworked existing models to enable creation of unique features
for complex tooling orders.
. Ordered and tracked special electrical components and materials during
design of each tool set, minimizing lead time.
. Created, produced and delivered plants' production tooling which
performed as designed. Tooling resulted in department receiving customer
commendations for timely, accurate, quality producing, tool sets and also
resulted in more tool orders.
. Reduced cost of glass cutting tools $60 each by replacing outdated
machined parts with common stock parts, which would perform according to
requirements and survive the production environment.

GLASSTECH, Toledo, OH 1997-2000
Design Engineer - Research & Development
Worked with team of engineers designing large machine assemblies of glass
bending and tempering furnaces using PRO/E. Contract position.
. Participated in design engineering of glass drive system for custom
furnace.
. Provided immediate contribution to company for design services on custom
furnace.
CATERPILLAR, DeKalb, IL 1995-
1997
Design Engineer - Paving Products Division
. Designed mechanical portion of multi-fuel, 10-20 foot extendable asphalt
paving screed utilizing PRO/E and PRO PDM database. Contract position.
MOTOROLA, Schaumburg, IL 1994-
1995
Mechanical Engineering Support
Designed and modified pager cabinet parts, electrical cables, etc. in
PRO/E. Contract position.
. Collaborated with electrical connector/cable vendors to develop prototype
cables for cabinets.
. Initiated evaluation of design software that would route and produce 3D
models for prototype cable routings/connectors. Determined that software
capabilities were extensive and capable.
AMERICAN NATIONAL CAN COMPANY, Batavia, IL 1993-1994
Process Engineer
Responsible for poly co-extrusion bottle production operations including
supervising product changeovers, monitoring start-ups, production
troubleshooting, assisting in diagnosis/resolution and filling in for shift
supervisors.
PLASTIPAK PACKAGING, Medina, OH 1989-1993
Process Engineer - Research & Development
Recommended product design changes, determined production parameters,
performed machine changeovers and preventative maintenance.
. Worked with material vendors to develop customer bottle color
requirements. Developed blow mold machine running parameters that enabled
production of quality bottles.
. Evaluated process capabilities of blow mold machines to produce PET
plastic bottles. Recommended design changes to tooling, and adjustments
to machine running parameters for improved bottle production.
