Personal Statement:

In spring of 2007 I graduated with honors from the Commonwealth College of

the University of Massachusetts Amherst, receiving my BA in Anthropology

with a minor in Spanish. During my junior year of college I studied abroad

for a semester in Costa Rica, at which time I lived with a host family and

additionally met my husband Gabriel. After college I lived in Costa Rica

from June 2007 to April 2010. I recently returned with my husband upon his

acquisition of permanent residency status in the US. We are currently

living in Port St. Lucie, Florida with our newly born son, Dylan.

I speak Spanish at a conversational level and have experience working in a

variety of environments. My university studies in the field of

Anthropology, as well as my real world experience living and working abroad

in Costa Rica, have inspired my interests in human relations and human

rights. I believe that being bilingual, having a formal education in

cultural studies, and having life experience in a foreign culture would

make me an asset in a variety of positions: specifically in the fields of

social services, management, education, customer service and

communications.
