Project Engineering/Troubleshooting - Design and quality enhancements using
six sigma methods (DOE) to oven/incubator and hotplate/stirrer line
resulted in recurring annual savings of $138,000.
Project Engineering/Troubleshooting - Successfully moved power supply line
from Pittsburgh to Indiana, establishing a one-man cell using six sigma and
lean manufacturing techniques which reduced required space by 70%, labor by
30%, and met production demands.
Project Engineering/Process Improvement - Using Lean Manufacturing lead
team to reduce the oven line from 4000 square feet to 1000 square feet and
improved productivity by 33%. Operators liked significantly less walking.
Process Improvement - Utilized statistical process control methods to solve
problems, generate significant process improvements within short time

Project Engineering - Project to reduce the cost of PCBs was to convert
from through hole to surface mount. Planned, tested, and implemented as
inventories reached conversion point.

thermoforming and thermosetting primary wire and ignition wire.
Responsibilities span operations from the rod mill through final product
processing. Also, utilized SPC and Six Sigma practices. Provided
technical support to several major equipment installations such as computer
monitoring and control. Provided problem resolution support through a team
environment. Part of a plant wide team that drove PPMs from 25,000 to 500
in two months. January, 97 PPMs at 202 and June, 97 at 53 PPM. Primary
contributor in the generation and implementation of a QS-9000 system.

1993 - 1996
Quality Assurance Supervisor for contract manufacturer of commercial
computer, handgun, major appliance, small appliance, and telecommunications
assemblies. Directed inspectors in daily receiving, in-process, and final
inspection activities, and generate inspection plans and report system for
continuous improvement activities. Utilized SPC and Six Sigma practices.
Provided support to product and process design improvements in cooperation
with suppliers, customers, and engineering.
Quality - Concurrently managed six major quality programs and the Metrology
Laboratory while making extensive revisions to the companies Quality manual
ensuring compatibility to individual customer requirements, MIL-Q-9858, and
ISO9001 requirements. Utilized statistical process control methods to solve

ground hardware. Monitored acceptance and qualification testing; reviewed
purchase requests, purchase orders, and drawings to ensure the
incorporation of quality requirements; conducted source inspections,
supplier audits, and supplier surveys; and coordinated problem resolution
between suppliers and various McDonnell Douglas business units/divisions.
Troubleshooting - Through troubleshooting and close coordination with
production and engineering groups, identified and resolved critical
problems within tight project time frames. Problems range from PCB
delaminating problems, electrical component failure problems, to minor
mechanical problems.
Process Improvement - Modified test procedures on complex prototype unit to
reduce high set-up error rates. New procedures saved over 2100 hours,
prevented costly schedule delays, and eliminated unnecessary repairs caused
by human error.
Process Improvement - Led Quality Data Collection Team that developed
company's first successful supplier rating system. This resolved audit

move.
