Are you a survivor? Reba McEntire sung about how she overcame obstacles in her life.
She was a survivor in her own life. Her mom and siblings were there with her each step
she took to fame. Opportunities opened for Reba and she had the bravery to take those
opportunities. She had to choose the best things for her even if that meant moving
different locations away from the family and friends she had. Even though they wouldn’t
be there in person she had them there in her heart. With all of the support her family and
friends gave her she earned the rewards she was given. This boosted Reba’s confidence
and made it where she could enjoy what she was doing and get life-long friends in the
process. Since Reba put forward the effort to do what she wanted to do in life then she
came out very rewarded and enjoyed doing it.
Reba McEntire had many influences in her life but only two had a great impact on
her. One of these was her mother. As Reba was growing up, her mother was a singer who
never pursued it but wanted her kids to have the opportunity to become singers
(CMT.com). She saw that her daughter started to love music at a young age and wanted
to help her chase the dream. Her mother encouraged Reba and continued to work with her
so she would be really good at it. Equally important, Reba’s brother and sister both grew
up to be singers (CMT.com). This helped her out in many ways because they would sing
together and hear each other. Before the kids could perform together on stage they had to
know what they sounded like and how to improve. The people someone loves the most
could be the key to changing a part of their life in the long run as it did for Reba. She
went from being a little hometown farm girl into a big country music singer.
Reba had to make really hard decisions to get high in the charts. Although she had
many choices in life she had two real big ones to decide on. First she had to decide if she
should leave her hometown and go to Nashville (Biography.com). If she wouldn’t have
left then she would not have had the chance to record a session which was offered by the
recording artist. By making the choice to leave Oklahoma and go to Nashville she took
the step towards progress. Furthermore, she wasn’t making as much success with the first
recording company she was with so she decided to sign a new contract with MCA
Records (Starpulse.com). With the company she wasn’t making the charts well so when
she switched it had to be a good choice to make. When she did this she started to be
known well by the people as with the other company she wasn’t very known. In life make
smart choices and be serious about the hardest ones, which Reba did and made it
somewhere in life.
There are things in life that people can be known for but it takes hard work and
determination. Reba became female vocalist of the year from 1984-1987 (Cmt.com). This
hit off her singing career tremendously. People were listening and enjoying her music and
it kept getting stronger. In addition, she won entertainer of the year in 1986 (Cmt.com).
She started small roles in films during the 90’s which led to her own show “Reba” in
2001. It was a popular show until the downfall in early 2007. She is a strong singer and
actor and continues to strive on her fans. Reba finally put to rest the myth that women in
country music couldn’t sell albums. She sold over 40 million and still going strong.
To conclude Reba’s exciting life, it’s been a journey for her. No, her life isn’t over
because she still is successful at everything she does. Whether she acts or sings she shines
above all. Without her strong family beside her she would not be where she is now.
Starting her singing was a leap she had to take but it was all worth it to go to Nashville.
Also, with her acting it just takes hard work but Reba McEntire can do it. And she did.
Which this takes a toll on people who need somebody they can look up to, and say, “Reba
did something with her life so I can do something with mine. “
