Allied Technology Group, Portsmouth VA
October 2000 to October 2006
Served as Senior System Analyst in Command Control Center US Coast Guard
responsible for:
. Redesigning, developing, coding, testing and maintaining programs such as
the Vessel Traffic System (VTS) Canadian Communications (CANCOM) handoff
of maritime mail messaging transfer program between US (Puget Sound, WA)
and Canada port facilities. Developed a highly reliable and critical
communication link encapsulating key features of the TCP/IP protocol via
FTP broadband connection.
. Encoding the VTS Track Replay program segment to add visual capability of
viewing past dated vessel information and their associated tracks on an
on-demand basis. This was an important extension to the system for use in
determining culpability and directing corrective actions on an after-the-
fact basis.
. Addressing the CANCOM vessel identification problem by incorporating
Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) features into the program. Being
uniquely transponder based, this sure-fire way of identification further
reduced operator intervention and bolstered program operation.
. Configuring a 3600 Series Cisco router, including an IOS upgrade, and a
Cisco Pix hardware firewall to work in unison with each other to
efficiently route IP packets, and ferret out, isolate and/or block
