Responsibilities include ensuring patients receive the safest
possible blood product transfusions through performing the following
duties: monitoring and maintaining adequate supply of blood product
inventory, ensuring safe storage of blood products, confirming proper
and complete specimen labeling before testing, utilizing laboratory
software to complete patient history checks, maintaining automated
instruments for blood bank testing, verifying patient testing results in
the laboratory computer system, investigating and resolving any
unexpected test results as well as providing proper blood products to
emergent surgical and trauma patients quickly and accurately. Other duties
include writing standard operating procedures, acting as Transfusion
Service "superuser" for newly implemented hospital software, serving as
Transfusion Service Continuing Education Coordinator, and volunteering
to maintain laboratory bottle, paper and battery recycling.

accurate and complete testing, being on-call after regular business hours
to provide hospitals with help for their critical patients, presenting

data entry of manual bench testing results into ARC computer system and
manipulating the Reference Laboratory's blood inventory in the ARC computer
