Professional Experience:
February 2007 to April 2010: Help Desk Specialist, Fidelity Deposit and
Discount Bank, Dunmore, PA. I provided assistance to bank employees
including some application support. I created and managed users in Active
Directory and managed application security profiles. I worked on hardware
upgrades including rolling out "Front Counter" imaging and check
processing. I was responsible for managing the backups and working with
vendors in resolving software and hardware problems. I worked on various
projects and software upgrades that involved servers and client
workstations throughout the bank. I taught a class for new users that
included bank policies, login procedures and password management.
March 2006 to December 2006: Project Manager, LEAD Technologies, 21 Tanner
St., Haddonfield, NJ. I was responsible for managing network cable
installation and coordinating the installation of routers, switches,
servers, phone switches and desktops in client offices. I provided opening
day support for users and generated the as-built documents at the
conclusion of the installation.
August 2005 to January 2006: Contract Employee, Strategic Link Consulting,
Exton, PA. I worked on various projects including: migrated users and
workstations from an old Novell network to a mixed Novell Windows
environment; migrated a Citrix 3.0 environment to a Presentation Server 4.0
environment; built Citrix Presentation Servers according to an set
procedures; migrated users and public store information from Exchange 2000
to Exchange 2003; provided desktop support and rolled out Symantec Anti-
virus upgrades.
May 1998 to July 2005: Network Administrator, CCIS of Philadelphia County,
Philadelphia, PA. I was responsible for managing a Windows Server 2003
network consisting of seven servers. The servers hosted Citrix 3.0, MS
IIS, Exchange 2003, Bright Mail spam filtering, SQL 2000, Backup Exec 10
and Surf Control web management. During my employment, the office migrated
from a Netware 4.0 to a mixed Netware 5.0/Windows 2000 environment with
Novell Bordermanager and GroupWise 6.5. The network connected to the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, providing access to shared databases. I
operated and maintained an Avaya Definity phone system with an Intuity
voicemail server. I set up and maintained Windows desktops. I created and
taught classes in a 10 station classroom. As part of the "ACE" team, I
provided support for all the offices in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
that used the CAMIS (proprietary) software and I was part of the team
supporting the transition to the new CCMIS system (a statewide database).
I acted as Office Manager and I managed renovation projects. I supervised
one employee for approximately two years.
January 1998 to May 1998: Contract Employee, Emery Air Freight, Scranton,
PA.
I documented existing accounting procedures (both manual and computer
based) for use in developing a new accounting system. I used Microsoft
Project to help develop a timeline for implementing the new software.
September 1996 to December 1997: Owner of Gus Ferrara and Associates,
Harford, PA.
I owned and operated a company which specialized in home office/small
business computer installations.
June 1972 to September 1996: Project Manager, FAA Technical Center,
Atlantic City International Airport, NJ. I participated in various
research projects starting as a co-op student and finishing as a project
manager. I am experienced in aviation fuels, aircraft propulsion systems
and high-speed data acquisition systems. I managed the Co-op Program for
the division. I authored 29 technical papers and journal articles and
edited 3 symposium proceedings. I chaired various ASTM, AIAA and CRC
research committees involved with the development of specifications for
alternate and unleaded fuels.
